Blah Blah. My dilemma is that they say that my chances are much higher b/c im african american male . However, i was still wondering how much difference does it really make? Could i get into cornell w/ these credentials;

GPA: 3.5
SAT: 1840

I'm also a dual Egyptain and American Citizen. Therefore, i go to egypt every summer and speak arabic very fluently. Hours and hours of logged community service in a rather run down health clinic out of almohandessen (cairo outskirts). So yea be brutally honest. I know my minority background will help but to what extent.

Chance Me For:
University of Georgia
Georgia Tech
University of Southern California
and Emory University

ok, you first said cornell, which even as an URM, is a big reach. Your SAT is uner 1900...so it's not likely
University of Georgia. if you are In state-match, OOS, reach
Gerogia Tech-match
USC-will you be recruited? if not, low reach
Not familiar with Emory

and if you please
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/661839-chances-chances-everywhere-but-not-drop-drink.html

Raise your SAT and its possible (2100+)

Contact Coaches at the schools to see if you are able to get recruited.

it will help to set you apart from the other applications even if you have a low sat score

What dilemma? you are looking good.

Im instate for UGA. Thats actually one of my top choices b/c its decent yet affordable. Its also the one im most concerned about....

You'd get into Cornell. From my experience, African-Americans with your stats from my school get into Cornell fairly easily.

^Not likely. Cornell routinely rejects applicants with 4.0s and 2350s. Even though he's URM a 3.5/1840 just doesn't cut it.

The rest of your schools you have a good shot at, though. Emory is a low reach, but USC is within your grasp (high match maybe). Georgia Tech and U of Georgia you're practically a shoe-in at.

Cornell- Reach (for everyone)
GT-Match
UG-In for IS OOS is reach
Emory-high match
USC- IDk probably a match for IS and reach for OOS

USC is a private university, so there's no distinction between in-state and out-of-state.

Cornell: Reach
GT: Match
UG: Match
USC: High match

Get your SAT superscore to 2100+ and you will be at most a low reach but probably a high match for cornell especially cuz of your ECs. You're in everywhere except maybe USC (not guarantee since OOS). Cornell is probably least selective of Ivies anyway.
