Chance a California Kid

UC GPA 4.07
not sure my other ones.. sorry

Top 5 % Class of 300 (could be ELC, not sure yet)

SAT (breakdown) 710 Math 760 CR 780 Writing (one sitting)

SAT II 710 Lit 740 Math II 730 Bio M

5 AP Bio 5 AP Eng Lang

Senior Course Load: AP Physics B (Highest offered), AP Calculus AB (Highest Offered) AP Eng Lit, AP Government/Macro/Micro Economics, AP Statistics

Upward trend in grades... Both semesters of Junior year I had a 4.0 UW + 3 Weighted AP/Honors Classes. My sophomore year was not so immaculate... but the 4.07 isn't too bad, and the grades over time thing is important to UCs is it not?

Unique interests... though I plan to major in something that has to do with Biology and pre-med, I am very interested in Digital Arts and have participated/won many contests over my time in high school.

Schools I am interested in:

University of Oregon
Santa Clara University
Cal Polytechnic University @ SLO
UC Berkeley
UCLA
UC Santa Barbara
UC Davis
UC San Diego
USC
Stanford

Thanks for reading, and I hope you can chance me!

im not sure about the private schools but id say you have a pretty good shot (if not a shoe in) at the uc system. actually id say its looking pretty good for usc too.

thanks… anyone else please

bump 10 char.

Stanford - reach

You look good for all of these schools except Stanford.

Okay, thanks. And yeah, I know Stanford is a reach… but it’s pretty much a crapshoot anyway so I thought I would apply anyway.

Berkeley and UCLA are reaches though, iskigates? Why do you say so? I think my GPA is only . something below the average for admits this year. I’m not doubting you, I just would like to know why. I am in-state by the way, which is much easier than OOS. Thanks

any more opinions?

i have just heard that each of those schools get enough applicants with perfect gpas and super high test scores that they could fill their entire freshman classes with them. you do have pretty good ecs though, so they are probably low reaches for you. i have just heard from college counselors and such that you need something really special to get in though. however, i do come from out of state so i might just be getting advice for OOS students. best of luck!

Great numbers for the UC system, and that U of O. Stanford is definitely a reach, but it is for everyone :(

@ Iski – Good luck getting into UCLA. I just looked up some info, and I think what you have been told is for OOS, in which you must be really overqualified for the UCs. They seem to really prefer CA kids, with like 80% + of the admits being from CA. UCLA and Berkeley are still hard to get into, but for in-state kids the site says average UC GPAs of around 4.14 - 4.16 and 2030 SAT scores. For OOS it’s probably much higher.

And thanks, Seattley… stanford is just for fun, and sometimes people get lucky. My friend got rejected from Cal Poly but got into UCLA with like 1650 SATs so you never know…

bump, and anymore opinions please? thanks

You’ll probably get in everywhere except Stanford.

thanks guys. a couple more opinions would be great, and then i would be done with this.
