My dear Californian, it has become increasingly difficult for us to participate in the government subsidized school in our own state! I am in you same dilemma, so I cannot "chance" you, but I can offer my condolences... Which I am sure are no comfort.

USC, NYU, BC, Michigan, UCSD, UCLA, UC Berkeley are most likely out of the question with your GPA. Your SAT is solid though. USC would usually be a reach, but because of your legacy im thinking a slight reach to reach. I think you got a shot at UCI/UCD/UCSB. I would focus on mid tier UC's (UCI/UCSB/UCD) and apply to low tier UC's as back up's and also give USC a shot because of your legacy. Best of luck!

UCB/UCLA: Large Reach (in state)
UCSD: Reach (in state)
Michigan: Reach (out of state)
USC: Slight Reach-Reach (Legacy)
NYU: Slight Reach-Reach
BC: Slight Reach-Reach
UCI/UCSB/UCD: Slight Reach (in state)
UCSC/UCR/UCM: Safe Match-Safety (in state)
