Chance A Canadian Aiming for Top Schools

Hi all! I'm an Asian-Canadian female planning on applying to the following schools: Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Stanford, Columbia, Dartmouth, Brown, Cornell, UPenn, UChicago, Amherst, Williams, and Duke. I want to know if these reaches are too high, so all input will be appreciated!

Work Experience:

Do you think I have a decent chance at any of these schools? Should I apply to other, not-so-competitive schools as well?

bump…
Please help! I’m really stressed out!!!
BTW, forgot to mention this, I will chance back!

Most of those schools are reaches for everyone. Your stats put you in the ballpark but definitely apply to a few US and Canadian match schols.

Thanks so much for your reply! And, what US universities do you think are match schools for me?

Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Stanford, Columbia, Dartmouth, Brown, UPenn, UChicago, Amherst, Williams, and Duke.

They are reach schools for almost everyone (including you).

Vanderbilt, Rice and NW could be your match schools.
I think you have GREAT chances at UCB and UCLA and UVA.

Good luck to you!

Bubbles37, your stats are truly impressive! you definitely have a great chance of being admitted to every college you listed, but you may want to have a couple of safeties because admission at top tier schools is sometimes random.
USC, UCLA, Emory, Washington U in St. Louis are matches for you. I wish you the best of luck.

You have good chances at the ivies, but then again ivies are sometimes upredictable and they want more then just the “perfect score.” honestly, I think you could get into Dartmouth and brown. And like others have stated, you would definitely get into UCLA and Berkeley.
I’m so jealous of your stats though! Great job (=

Oh and try johns Hopkins too!

Thanks everyone for your input!

I really want to know, what are my chances of getting into at least 1 of these 13 schools I’ve listed? I would be happy if I get accepted into even 1 of them!

You will probably be accepted/wait listed at all of the ones you named due to a unique work experience and good school grades/ high tests scores

Bubbles37, thanks for giving me your input. I think that you have a fantastic chance at any of the schools you named. You have an outstanding SAT score and GPA and you can’t beat a class rank of #1! Of course, getting into the highly selective schools (all that you named–Duke and U of Chicago are a little bit less selective than the others, I think, but still quite selective) is a crapshoot, but you have a better chance than most applicants. I think that your unique EC of figure skating will really catch the admissions committee’s eye, too! Good luck on your SAT subject tests this fall!

It is extremely likely that all the schools will accept you. Some, like Harvard, are fairly random, but you will definitely get in to most because of your unique ECs and excellent stats. Good job and good luck!

Thanks to everyone! It’s good to know that my ECs are unique, because I’ve never even realized that until you guys told me! I just hope that my international applicant status doesn’t hurt my chances. fingers crossed
