Sorry for the length, but I wanted to make sure I didn't forget anything. I'm planning on applying to the following schools: USF, UCF, UF, Georgia Tech, Rice, and UC Berkeley. I would really appreciate being chanced on those as well as any more you guys think I should consider. Thank you so much for reading and please chance me!

The calculus looks brutal and Computer science is not too heavy on calculus, but it does raise questions on your ability for math… I mean calculus is easy, and the algebra part of calculus is harder. If you can’t do the algebra part (which I suspect because of ACT) you will probably have hard time in CS.

I have a question for you: why do you want to go into CS? Honestly.

For some reason, calculus didn’t quite click with me. It was one of those things where I underestimated it first semester, and by second semester when I realized how difficult it was I was beyond help. I’m still shaky on the basic principles, so I’d be fine with taking it again in college. As far as algebra goes, I’ve always had trouble with the easy stuff (straight B’s in middle school algebra I and geometry) but I’m not bad at it now. It’s just not as solid as I’d like it to be.

I’m choosing CS because I have a wide range of interests in a LOT of things, but if there’s one thing that’s constant it’s my love of computers and my love of programming. I’ve always been ‘that guy people ask for help in computer class’ despite going to an advanced technology program. As far as careers go, I’d be perfectly content being a code monkey for some company. It’s what I’m good at and what I like to do.

UC Berkeley is an extremely high reach, because of the low SAT score (and 590 in Math for a CS Major?) Your EC’s don’t stand out and you aren’t a URM, so I am fairly sure you will not get into Berkeley; regardless, you might as well apply if you are applying to other UC’s as all you have to do is check a box and pay a small fee.
