Chance a CCC -> UC prospective one year junior level transfer for Fall 2021

Don’t know if I have a chance since it’s harder to successfully transfer to a UC in one year but I’m just looking to see if it’s possible for me based on my stats. I’m prepared to hear the worst…

Applied: UCLA (probably won’t get in but worth a shot I guess), UCI, UCR (haven’t applied but maybe, transfer app is still open till 1/8?)

Background: California resident + currently attending a California community college. I’m a first year student with enough AP credit from high school to have one year’s worth of college credit. The APs have taken care of a lot of my general education requirements on the IGETC as well and I have enough college credits from those that it puts me at sophomore status. I’ll be on track to complete IGETC by spring 2021 as well as a lot of my lower division major requirements

Potential hooks (?): URM + autistic

Major: Psychology (competitive major, I know). I know it won’t make much of a difference admissions-wise but if it helps I plan to get my ADT at my CC

GPA: 4.0 as of now (just finished fall semester — did not TAG for UCI because I didn’t have a GPA when the TAG app was due since I did not take summer classes or do duel enrollment while in HS)

ECs: none in college so far due to the pandemic and me not wanting to do anything in-person (not employed either) + me having only been at my CC for one semester (unless being in my CC’s honors program counts…?)

PIQs: either decent or kinda mediocre? I’m not too confident in them and I feel like they might hurt me but I tried to showcase my passion for my major through my answers

If it’s beneficial in any way here are my HS stats (I graduated summer 2020):

HS GPA: 3.63 UW/4.12 W

APs: Art History (5), Biology (4), Calc AB + BC (both 5), Chemistry (3), European History (4), French (3), US History (4), World History (3)

ECs (included these on my app because I thought they might help get a better idea of the things I did outside of school pre-pandemic but I don’t know if it’ll make a difference):

  • volunteered at senior center helping seniors with technology for half a year
  • ran cross country + track for two years in HS
  • volunteered one summer with special ed middle-school age kids in my city’s school district
  • volunteered two summers at children’s summer reading program at local city library while in HS
  • volunteered at STEM fair night for elementary school age children at old elementary school

However, one year with limited college record makes it harder to guess. But they do expect major preparation courses as listed in ASSIST.org . Also, be sure to count units for AP credit by UC’s listing. Except for IGETC fulfillment determined by your CCC, subject credit for AP credit is by the UC campus and major.

Race/ethnicity and high school GPA do not matter for junior transfers to UC.
