Sidenotes:
Applying to architecture, and my portfolio is pretty good, which I hope will make up for the bad GPA as supposedly all of the schools consider it as a pretty important part of the app. I know that one of my teachers will write me an amazing rec because I've had her for three years in art, and the other at least a good one. Freshman year was really bad for me, I had 3 c's, but now I've improved to generally 4a's/3b's.

Schools:
Cornell - AAP (ED), USC,UC Berkeley,WashU, Cooper Union - Architecture, Northeastern, Maryland

Berkeley OOS: slight reach - reach

Unfortunately, your GPA is holding you back. I noticed that Berkeley is the only public, other than Maryland, on your list -- why's that? Specifically, why Berkeley? (Not saying it's not a good choice -- I think it's great that OOSers apply to Berkeley -- just wondering why they put Berkeley among their choices of privates.)

Berkeley's said to have a really good architecture program on the technical side of it, so it was a plus. Also, when we were in San Francisco, we went to visit a cousin at Berkeley, and the campus + people were amazing (although it might be because we had just been at Stanford, and the palm trees and sheer dryness there were a shock to my East Coast self, while Berkeley was more tree-y) On another note, my parents don't want me applying to OOS publics since most cost almost as much as privates, and Berkeley's one of the few publics with a really stellar reputation.
