I am a NJ resident attending a community college in Jersey and I am currently enrolled in summer classes and have 1 semester left before I am finally done with this place. I actually used to go to Monmouth University years ago but didn't do well and had financial issues so I withdrew and started working. I am studying Accounting and I was just wondering what my chances are if I apply for admissions into Spring 2014.

My cumulative GPA at Bergen Community College is a 3.7. Is there really any other information that is needed when it comes to an OOS transfer student?

I have been attending Washtenaw Community College (local CC to UM) for the past +2 years. Consequently, I have known a small handful of people who have transferred into UM. I know of two people who got admitted with GPA just slightly lower than yours overall (~3.5) into the CoE. I do not know anybody personally who transferred into LSA, but I’ve heard from advisors that a 3.7 is closer to what UM is looking for. I have also heard that having real life experiences (sounds like you may have had some similar to mine) is helpful.

I dropped out of HS and had some rough grades (incl. withdrawals) my first time back to college in 2006-7. I started going back to school in Fall 2010 and found out thursday (5/30) I was accepted. Don’t give up, you can do it!

Why are you transferring so late? Why not apply for Winter?

I finish my Associates in the Fall Semester and knew I was going to do well in the Spring (I had a 4.0 GPA this Spring after having a 3.4 my first semester back last fall. I figure that would help “pad my stats”, if you will). I am taking 2 summer courses now and after that I plan on applying since my college resume consists of some success instead of sketchiness from Monmouth U lol.

I appreciate the response and kind words, good luck!
