Business calculus A
macro economics A
College algebra A

will be taking this fall

accounting 1

high school grades are not good around a 2.9 with many honors and AP.

EC include a one sport and around 60 hours of volunteering as well as joining phi theta kappa.

Preferably, I want to transfer to uiuc business ( i know its a major reach currently since i only have 33 credits + 16 this fall) and for a second choice Economics.

thoughts on chances? i really don't have a clue on what schools i should expect to get into since the counselors are really no help.

I’m somewhat similar to you academically. I have a 3.88 cumulative (community college) with 38 credit hours though. I don’t think credit hours matter very much since you have two semesters under your belt. I’d say the only thing that sticks out is your math. What are you doing in college algebra and pre-calc? You know that calc 1 and calc 2/or finite math are required. You should also have taken business 101 in my opinion. High school and act doesn’t matter after 30 credit hours. They only see that you graduated.

Go here for requirements for transfer into business college: http://admissions.illinois.edu/pdf/transfer/handbook/bus.pdf You will meet the math requirement for business but your schedule may raise questions as to what you are doing taking precalculus now after already taking business calculus and why you took college algebra if you could get an A in business calculus. In other words, you have what are usually high school math courses (pre-calc and algebra), neither of which will be given any real weight in the admission decision, while showing that you were already ready to take calculus when you entered. Also, you mention having English 1 and 2 but I don’t know if you mean courses that are equivalent to the UIUC’s required rhetoric course (i.e., you need writing courses not literature courses).

You have some chance, assuming requirements are met, but no one should ever assume he has a high chance of admission to the business college which usually accepts about 12% or less of the transfer applicants from other universities. As to economics, you may have the same rhetoric issue and you also have a math issue since calculus not just business calculus is a required course, see Economics section in http://admissions.illinois.edu/pdf/transfer/handbook/las2.pdf, although they will likely accept business calculus as meeting the requirement while recognizing it is not the preferred course for doing so. Transfer admission rate into economics is usually closer to 50%.

Drusba, although I understand the math issue ( a long complicated situation that the college counselor put me thru), what makes you assume I have a rhetoric issue? The only courses for English that are required are both met with ENG 101 and 102 which are both As.

To Uiuc accounting: I have completed finite math and Business calculus which are both accepted from my specific community college to the UIUC business. However, the two courses are not accepted to the UIUC economics program which is currently my main issue.
