Hey guys!
I want to go to NYU Stern with a major in finance and a minor in production at Tisch.
I visited the school, and I love it!
So, could anyone chance me with the general outline of my resume below?

Act - 31
Haven't taken SAT yet

Volunteering:

Also, organized and ran my own can drive in my school, collected hundreds of cans

Summers:
Spent last summer at Cornell for the summer program
Applied to Governor's School in the Sciences for this summer (Hopefully get in!)

Others:
Hopefully will be getting an internship at my dad's firm soon

So, what do you guys think? Any chances?

I’d be surprised if you didn’t get in. I had a vastly lower GPA and lower rank and still got in, even though my standardized test scores were a bit higher than yours.

Since you’re ranked 1st in your class, I’d advise you to try for Wharton at UPenn as well as Stern. You’d have a solid shot.

Thanks for the feedback! :] I do plan on trying Wharton, but NYU offers that theater aspect that I’m looking for, so I may lean more towards NYU in the end. Eh, we’ll see where I get accepted!
I also plan on re-taking my ACT to see if I can bump my score up a bit!

Bump! Chance me please :]

So Staryulover:

You’ve gotten straight A’s all of high school, are in line to be the valedictorian of you’re school and you’re asking us to chance you whether you’ll get into a non-Ivy league school?

Stern is tough, but take a look at you’re record dude. You’ve got nothing to worry about.

thanks fireman! I’m more worried because of the my ACT score, as it is pretty low for a school like NYU. I’m very paranoid about these types of things, and I know I am going to panic about this for the year that I have left before applications, so it’s nice to hear other people’s opinions!

yeah I guess, if it wasn’t already at least a safety/match for you, you can definitely make Stern a lock with a 32-33 ACT

I’m actually re-taking my ACT on Saturday, so hopefully I’ll knock it up to a 34 (my goal!)

You could also give Wharton a try. You would have to take the SAT’s though. That’s the good part about NYU’s new standardized testing policy.

But from the rankings and what I’ve heard from many people, Stern is right up there with Wharton. It got an A+ for job placement from US News College Rankings, which is the same grade they gave Wharton. Since you’re on Wall Street, you’ll likely be able to land at least one top internship. It’s not too hard to find one when you’re at Stern.

Since you also want to minor at Tisch, it seems that NYU is probably the school you want because Tisch is amongst the best in the country in that department.
