“saying you are Chickasaw blood or whatever does not mean colleges will prick up their ears and be like ‘whoo, cultural diversity!’”

… that’s exactly what I was hoping for. Maybe I’ll go have fun on one of those casinos and call it a tribal party. I was told on another thread that it would be a huge boost.

don’t underestimate the ILR program. it’s multi-disciplinary, but from experience i can tell that the ILR admissions people really look for kids with a vested interest in the ILR curriculum.

you’re best off sending your ACT so you can forget about the SATs & subject tests because they’re not strong. don’t worry about the essay grade so much, i took the ACT blind and got a 9 on the essay (but a 35 overall) and it didn’t matter. so long as your admissions essay is great. again back to the genuine interest in ILR… the admissions essay for ILR is all about how well your interests fit with the school’s curriculum/goals

your few ECs that show your interests (not just community service or honor society type things) are all in finance, and cornell might wonder why you didn’t just apply to CALS for AEM or A&S for economics or something. keep that in mind.

AEM has quickly climbed the rankings for undergrad business programs, so don’t think it will be easy at all to transfer if you ever did get into ILR
