Bumpity bump bump plzz…

Emory and Michigan might be a bit of a reach since they’re such good b-schools, but I think you’ll be in to all of the others for sure. All of the ECs and AP classes look really good, especially if you’re doing as many challenging classes as you can at your school.

Policy Debate…Isn’t that Northwestern’s domain?

@ojodeltigre It is but i always thought it was a bit of a reach. Should i apply?
@mhs2012 thanks
Also should i try to apply to NYU stern or go in to their school of applied sciences

Honestly, I think you should apply to NW. It could be a reach, but it’s not inconceivable. People have gotten in with lower SAT scores, and even then, SATs aren’t the only thing they look at. You’ve got a decent rank, rigorous schedule, and being a URM doesn’t hurt at all. With a really good essay, you could have a good shot (Actually, you have a really good shot at all of the schools you listed). And if you have the time/resources, I would suggest taking two subject tests in the fall. If you can crank two 700+ scores, it could make your application at some of these schools even stronger. NW actually recommends that you take subject tests in addition to the SAT.

I don’t know what your SAT breakdown is, but if you think that your math score is good enough (let’s say…690+?), then go for Stern. I don’t think you need to retake the SAT for any of these schools, but taking a Math I or II subject test could be beneficial.

to tell you the truth i dont know what a good essay looks like do you have any place where i could see other peoples essays. also i got a 710 on the math, i could take SAT II’s in spanish, and US history and nail them for sure but i’ve never really looked into the Math II… how much study time do you think ill need for it? im considering northwestern and thanks for the advice. i will be taking the SAT’s again in october (my cousins are making me) should i apply to some tougher school although my GPA is low?

and btw if this help all of my summers have been at debate institutes for 3-4 weeks and im ill probably be school president (elections are in october) so i might get to put that in some applications.

also forgot to mention im taking AP biology

NYU: low reach
Umich: low reach
Wake Forest: reach
Emory: high reach
Fordham: match
