The OP’s 3.76 reported is weighted…the 3.75 that is tossed around as a threshold is typically an unweighted GPA. That said on paper you’re certainly in the running and the deferral, as opposed to a rejection, tells you this. OP no one can “chance” you…talk to your GC and see how you stack up compared to others from your school who were accepted this year and last year…that will give you a better picture than a random posting. Good luck!

If it means anything, I was accepted with a 3.74 weighted but closer to a 3.4 UW, but I had SATs similar to the OP’s (though a bit higher–1490/2270).

It does not mean much AsianGinger. Michigan is quite selective. In other words, its decisions are random. Obviously, excellent students have better odds of getting in than merely good ones, but in the end, nobody has a “good” chance of getting in. There was a time when a 4.0 (UW) student with a 1500+ (CR+M) was virtually guaranteed admission. Today, even such students have a not better than 75% shot of getting in. Students such as the OP and yourself (very qualified to be sure) stand a less than 50% chance of admission.
