chance a desperate dude!

<p>hi guys, i am a senior in a very competitive high school (about 3~8 students go to Harvard from my high school every year) in US as an international student from China (the important phase in this line is -- i am from China. it represents something since something called Chinese Exclusive Act in 19th century. jk lol)
I don't feel like writing a long paragraph, so here is a list of my achievements:</p>

<p>Planning to apply early for UPenn or Cornell without any financial aids.</p>

<p>GPA: 3.72 unweighted
SAT: 1920 (will improve)
SAT 2: haven't taken yet (will take on Oct 4th)
AP: Macro + Micro economics 5, Biology 4, USH 4, BC Calculus 5, AP Physics B 5 (6 APs in my junior year, i hope this means something)
Current curriculum: AP Eng Literature, Spanish 1 CP (LOL), AP Psychology, Neuroscience H, AP Statistics, AP Physics C (both Mechanics and Electricity), principle of accounting at Harvard at first semester (Managerial Finance at second semester), Multi-variable Calculus at first semester (Liner Algebra at second semester)
Clubs involved:
In math team for three yrs so far (Since my school's math team does not offer any position).
Business Club for two yrs (hoping for a position this yr. =p)
Used to Breakdance Club president, but the club was canceled...
Computer Science club for 3 yrs.
I joined Science Club this yr.
Extra Curriculum: (in chronicle order)
I volunteered at an AIDS Hospital and a random language camp in my sophomore yr in Beijing, China.
I co-foundered a non-profit organization that donate money to poor Chinese student (we have donated over $1000 within a yr).
Then I went to intern at a psychology center at BU and I volunteered (or interned) at McLean Hospital (a hospital with the largest brain bank in US, and it belongs to Harvard system) to participate in a DNA comparison project that compares the hippocampus between Schizophrenic patients and normal person.
Academic Achievement:
National Honor Society? lol, such a pretentious title
AMC winer for two yrs, AIME: 4 (i know i suck at math)
Achieved 2nd in Massachusetts Economics Challenge as team leader
3rd place in MA and New England Mathematics Challenge as a team member (8 members in a total)</p>

<p>PS: I will apply for an major that relates to finance or economics.</p>

<p>btw, I have 200+ hrs for community service by doing lab. =p</p>

<p>The single most weakest part of your application is your SAT. You NEED to get at least 2150+. 2200 would be better. Secondly, you need to get 750+ in all your SAT 2's. Being an Asian you are measured against the best applicants. However, I must say that you have worked pretty hard in high school and that all other parts of your application (excluding the essays!) look solid. My suggestion to you is don't apply to more than one or two of the need blinds (none is better!) i.e. HYPM, Amherst, Williams, Middlebury and Dartmouth. Be smart in your college application process. If you are planning on doing business, certainly apply to NYU stern and U Michigan.</p>

<p>Best of luck!</p>

<p>agreed^....</p>

<p>thanks moizuhk!
I guess I will have 2300+ for my SAT 2, and I will take the subject test tomorrow. =(</p>

<p>Good luck tomorrow! If you ace it, your other score doesn't really that much, I reckon!</p>

<p>Especially since Harvard recently stated that they regard subject tests as more important than the regular SAT reasoning tests (and is even thinking about making the reasoning test optional!)!</p>
