Chance a desperate Mexican, I haven't sleep at all, please???

I am new in this =)

STATS:

GPA: 3.6
SATs: 1520
Rank is about 70 out 700
Last grades were horrible due to several personal problems, etc:
AP Span= A
Criminal Justice= A & C (two periods, but I don't know if this one is correct because it is supposed to be only one grade and I know a lot about the subject)
AP Stats= C (the worst grade I have ever got in Math or any other subject; I missed a lot of classes and the tests are not my thing as you can see with SATs, it is also because of my English, which is not the best)
AP Gov=B
AP Lit= B
AP Macro= B
AVID 12= B (She doesn't like me too much; I don't like her neither) =)

I have in USA for two years now and I want to know if I will qualify for top ranked schools or other average schools.

My grades have been average:
Freshman:
Grades are in a 1-10 scale, but I had like almost all 8s (they were really hard classes)

Sophomore:
Fall: 3.0 (It was when I got here, but my grades in Mexico the first two exams periods I got like a 8.7, again very hard classes; this school is a bachelor school and is where President Calderon graduated; they explain that they are a bachelor s. in the letter they gave me to transfer here, but it didn't work with the schools here.)
Spring: 3.7

Junior:
Fall: 3.75
Spring: 3.88
My classes were not the best, but they were the ones that I could take according to the schools and my counselors at that time (my fresno conselour screw my classes.) She made me repeat a lot of courses I had taken in my 7th, 8th, and 9th grades; like biology, geometry and algebra II (in my freshman I took physics, chemistry and trigonometry.) She even made me repeat computers 1 (she said it was a mistake) when I know everything about computers (I attend private schools in Mexico and they teach pretty well in my schools.) Now I have another couselor more competent, but he is sometimes very lazy.

I hate my school's staff and some teachers, but I love some other teachers. I have pretty good recommendation letters; the best one is from my AP Span teacher. =)

I won diplomas in Mexico. Some recognitions also. Here, I haven't receive anything since the school focuses more in students that can pass from a 2.9 to a 3.0. =(

Music
I play 10 or more instruments, honestly I don't remember (all instruments semi-professional), especially my guitar. I have played in 37 concerts (for my schools here and Mexico, national, and some international (all of them were in Mexico though, since my school is well known for music (Yoyo Ma saw me play, but he left before I could talk to him =( )

Sports;
-I played varsity soccer (Captain), basketball, and volleyball.
-I haven't played varsity here because it is a public school and basketball is competitive (I'm not that tall);there is no volleyball team (last year I think they had one, but it suked) and I hate the varsity soccer coaches (they think they are funny (they are not) and they have favorites.)
-I am captain of Mexico F.C. (champions) and also play with Fresno Utd.

Community Service and Work Experience:
-More than 600 hrs in CS in my Church (youth group and Guadalupana Society and member of the music team of the youth group)
-I work with my dad in his little photography business (I think just with that I make more than 1000 hrs. in two years and a half.) I worked my dad's friend in Mexico in almost the same thing ( I would guess cause I'm not sure, but I think I got like 300 hrs. in 1 year) Office Clerk for a summer in my 9th grade.

Essays are pretty good. (I think)
Stats are horrible. (I know)
ECs are pretty good too. (I guess)

Schools:
Bowdoin
American U.
Hampshire C.
Amherst C.
UMass Amherst
UCB, UCD, UCSB, UCI
Boston U.
Hawaii Pacific U.
Fordham
Providence
Santa Clara
Pepperdine.

Suggestions are more than welcomed.

What do you think? Let me see the reallity please. I need a shock right now. I want to sleep tonight. =( Thanks guys.

By the way I was an EL student so the school didn’t let me to take APs until I was a Senior and I still fought for it.

Anyone please???
I will chance back…!!!=) and you will be my best friend.

I don’t know all of your schools, but I’ll try and match the ones that I do. Sorry!

American U.- high match
Boston U.- high match
Hawaii Pacific U.- in
Fordham-match
Providence- match
Pepperdine- high match

You should be fine, especially considering your unusual background.

Chance me please. Come on! I need help.

wow you seem like youve tried very hard, especially taking those AP classes while youve only been in the US for 2 years. Seems like you have a good app and youll get into some, if not most, of those

good luck :)

Thank you for the comments guys.
@angedemusique: High match? Is it like 50% or more. =P
@cowking15: Wow, thank you. I hope so too.

Hopefully I get in Hawaii P. I haven’t been there and I want to so much, but I also want to have options, especially BU and Hampshire, and UMass Amherst, but I don’t know a lot of how much they give in Financial Aid and Scholarships.
Do you think I can get in those?
Do you know something about these colleges Financial Aid?
Please share that info with me. Thank you. =)

Basically in your application you need to elaborate on all of your background, which will be VERY hard to do.

I find myself unable to cover even a small dimension of myself in my essays and I am far less cultured than you are. If you can do it well, I think you will be able to get into some good schools.

With that being said, you will get Financial Aid for sure. Personally, I’m applying to mostly schools that say they will meet 100% of student’s financial needs. You might want to look into Chapman. It’s pretty close to where I live and a great school. If you’re into the small town vibe it’s really nice. It’s quite expensive, but they give lots of money out every year.

Well, I wrote a great essay where I explain a lot of my emigration from Mexico to the USA and I think I cover almost everything. I just would have to add some things in the additional info part of the common app. or any app. Thank you.

Can you tell me what schools are those?
Chapman is already in my list (not this one, but in my all schools list.) I didn’t know they give a lot of money. Great advise! =)

Can anyone chance me please???

you have a good chance at the schools you are applying to  good luck:)

Thank you. What do you think are my chances???

1520 out of 1600 or 2400?

Unfortunately, it is 1520 out 2400.

I’m not sure how much your URM status and musical achievements will help you, but:
Amherst- big reach
BU, Bowdoin- reach (Big weather difference from Hawaii and Mexico!)
UMass Amherst, Fordham, Providence-match
IDK about the UCs
Bet you’re in at Hawaii- nice!

Thank for the chance :)

Bowdoin - reach
American U. match
Hampshire C. match
Amherst C. big reach
UMass Amherst match
UCB, UCD, UCSB, UCI ??
Boston U. mid/high match
Hawaii Pacific U. in
Fordham mid/high match
Providence match
Santa Clara ?
Pepperdine. mid match

best of luck!

haha…Yeah I want to go to Hawaii, but the school is not that good, so I would probably go only one year or one semester. idk.
Thanks man.
