My school does weighted GPAs. My gpa at the end of sophomore year was a 3.999 weighted. at the end of junior year, it was a weighted 3.952 i think.
if it were unweighted it would be around 3.2-3.3ish. i'm ranked around the top 25% out of a class that has nearly 300 students in a pretty competitive school in bergen county, NJ.

Carnegie Mellon

any opinions? be as harsh as you want! also, any schools that seem to fit my stats would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

Your rank is lousy. Your GPA is abysmal.
An Asian male from New Jersey with these stats is just not competitive enough for many of these colleges.

NYU Stern is a reject.
Out of state universities will be challenging.
Carnegie Mellon is very unlikely.

Your SATs and ECs are pretty solid, but your GPA is just too low for USC. With great recommendations and amazing essays, you may very well get in, but it's a long shot.

His GPA is 3.2. His scores are respectable and this isn't a personal attack, but he cannot get into USC without divine intervention. Seriously, RH, you need to do more research before giving such false hope to people.

No, his gpa is near 4.0W which is pretty decent for those schools. Not everyone at those schools has a 4.5W like people here on this site. This site is skewed, and not a practical indicator of the real applicant pool.

lol rutgers hopeful i think you're too nice. my gpa is actually 3.3 unweighted my school is really competitive. top 10% get 2200+ on sat easily but as for USC i'm not really committed to going there im just applying to see if i can get in. lol any more chances?
