<p>Low-income family - my dad teaches religion at my school (pretty much the only reason I can afford to go there) and my mom is unemployed.</p>

<p>SAT: 2280 total: 800 CR/720 M/760 W, one sitting.
SAT IIs: 740 USH, 700 Lit, 660 Math II (probably not reporting the math score)</p>

<p>GPA: 3.95 UW, 4.59/4.7 W
Rank: Top 5-10 student out of 260</p>

<p>APs: Human Geography (5), US History (4), English Language (5), US Government, English Literature, French Language, Biology
All other classes are honors, except for mandatory religion classes, which aren't offered at the honors level, & some required art/PE credits.</p>

<p>ECs:
- (9-12) Founded The Justice League, a social justice club that raises awareness around campus about different social issues in our country/world (i.e. Darfurian genocide, poverty in America, violence against women, etc.) We pick a new issue every marking period and get students involved by designing bulletin boards, updating an online blog on the school website, encouraging letter-writing to Congress, etc. Raised thousands of dollars for different charity groups, collect toys for children at Christmas, food for families at Thanksgiving, organized a school effort to raise money for Darfur.
- (9-12) Highly involved member of Drama Club, participate in daily rehearsals that last from 2-3 hours and often weekend rehearsals of 4-5 hours. Have held positions like Stage Manager, Assistant Stage Manager, Head of Publicity, Head of Props, etc. Won several awards including the school award for Best Stagehand, district award for Superior Tech.
- (11-12) Student government representative of my class. Vote on school issues, help organize school events, etc.
- (11-12) President of French Honors Society, tutor younger students every week in French.
- (12) Peer Ministry Retreat Team member. Organize religious retreats for younger students, help plan speeches/skits, etc. to help them grow in their faith. Served on Core Planning Team for Sophomore retreat.</p>

<p>Essays: Hopefully unique. First about the influence of comedy on my life, which might be a nice break for the admissions counselors, as it's on the light-hearted, optimistic side. Second about working at the freshman retreat at my school and helping one girl in particular open herself up to the faith, which helped me realize the impact that every action we make can have on someone else's life.</p>

<p>Hooks: Moved from NJ to FL sophomore year, low income family, Catholic school student, interesting essays.</p>
