Schools: (Safety/Match/Reach)

You're not gettin into Duke, much less Harvard, Columbia and WUSTL with a 1290 bro...

You need significant improvement to have a chance. Also, growing up in a foreign country isnt a hook in the slightest.

Ouch. =/ (10 char)

Sorry, loslobos71 is correct. Your EC's are good, but they don't mean much without good test scores. Apply to some LAC's that give preferences to low income kids. Study like mad this summer because your SAT score won't cut it.

...not even for UNC Chapel Hill?

Youd have a good shot at UNC.

You need serious safeties/matches. There's a very good chance you don't get into any of those schools.
I mean Harvard, Columbia...who are you kidding?

So people with 1290's, 3.91's, a sick course-load, and good EC's don't get into NCSU?

I find that hard to believe, but whatever you say.

And if I raise my SAT scores up to 1420-ish out of 1600? Better?

Oh...I completely missed the NCSU...that you'll get into.
Yes, a 1420 would be MUCH better, but you still probably wouldn't get into most of those schools.
With a 1290, you just ain't getting into Harvard/Columbia unless you're developmental or possibly if you're a URM/Recruited Ath
