<p>@InvisibleMonster: Though I am no adcom, I would think that not taking the AP exam could hurt your friend. Unless it is really common for top students @ your school to not take them, I can see it holding your friend back. A URM with nice SAT I, solid SAT IIs, legacy status, high GPA, strong letters/essays, and average ECs seems to be a low reach/high match. Good luck to your friend :)</p>
