Chance a friend for Stern vs. CAS

Hey there, I would like to ask you to chance a friend of me who is currently serving in the German Forces and wonders whether he should apply to Stern (International Business) or CAS (Economics).

White, International Applicant
SATs: W680, M610, CR620 (He said he'll take them again in January if possible)
SAT IIs: Physics790, Word History780, Lit780
GPA out of 4.0
UW: 3.63, W. 3.89
IB Billingual Diploma: 36

ECs:
Journalism, has published a few articles in a leading German newspaper,
has approximately 200 hours of community services,
Is very interst in philosophy and has joined the local university's philosophy society,
Participated 8 years in fencing for recreation,
Went on a program to Columbia University on Business.
Has an incredible amount of travel experience, visited over 30 countries

Essays will be fantastic I guess, he is a REALLY good writer
His recommendations will be good, from a physics and economics teacher
Has won 7 or 8 Excellent Achievement awards in grade 12 High school
He does not need financial aid, speaks 5 languages and is a first generation college student

He is really desperate about getting into NYU and would sacrifice Stern for studying Econ at CAS if his chances of admission are high there.

Thanks for your time

International “chances” are always a crapshoot because international students are very competitive. That being said, his SAT IIs are incredible, but his SAT I is on the low side for Stern, especially that math score. That’s pretty much the only fault because the rest of his record is flawless.

If he could retake the SAT I, I would definitely recommend that. Otherwise, applying to CAS with the three SAT IIs would also work.

[NYU > Undergraduate Admissions > Applying for Admission > Freshman Applicants > Standardized Tests](<a href=“How to Apply”>How to Apply)

That’s the new testing policy.

SAT 2’s will help him out. Pretty surprising he did so well on Literature and so poorly on CR on the SAT I. Same with Physics vs. Math.
