My friend wants to know if he can get into Stony, these are his rough stats

GPA: 3.56 (GPA uses a strange 5.5 max gpa scale where 4.5 and above is top 10%)
Percentile: Top 25% of 400 students
ACT: 29 (E:35, M: 25, R: 31, S: 26)
NYS Resident

Regular Classes
AP US Exam: 4
Taking 1 AP in senior year
Took Stony Brook ACE where he got an A in that Engineering Honors class (+6 stony brook credits)
Decent Essay
No Financial Aid
Passed all regents

Worked at a camp for 3 years for the summer
Rowing Club in 9th+10th
15 years of Tae Kwon Do (black belt)

I know Stony accepts students with a 92-96 ish gpa. I don’t know what a 3.56 out of 5.5 is in terms of the 100 scale. Aside from that he looks good - the ACT score is pretty decent. I know a big factor of being accepted into Stony (aside from grades) is what you bring to them. See if he can figure something out.
