Chance a friend?

She and I would appreciate replies immensely! Thank you in advance!

Okay, I'll do chances based upon two SAT scores. First, based upon the 1950 one:

Boston University--Safe Match
Carnegie Mellon University--Match
Rice University--Slight Reach
Worcester Polytechnic Institute--Safe Match
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute--Match
Drexel University--Safety
Duke University--Reach
Johns Hopkins University--Slight Reach

Then based upon getting a 2100 one that has scores of 660CR, 720M, 720W:

Boston University--Safe Match
Carnegie Mellon University--Match
Rice University--Match
Worcester Polytechnic Institute--Safe Match
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute--Match
Drexel University--Safety
Duke University--Slight Reach
Johns Hopkins University--Match

Good luck.

Hi Ashraf Eassa! (and Calcruzer --- long time no see on CC!!!)

I'm happy to chance you ... (no need to return the favor)

Okay. I'm going to give you full-length eval, so here it goes. Your GPA of UW 3.85 looks pretty strong. However, how strong is it? I'm not too sure, because you didn't indicate if you took APs or Honors. If you only took regulars, well then a 3.85 isn't all that great, because it doesn't indicate whether you can handle college-level work or not. Your SAT I of 1980 is decent, but not the best. Your scores are pretty even, though you seem a bit better on math and writing. I will note that, even though your friend should retake the SAT, colleges aren't really fond of SAT I senior test takers. Your SAT IIs look pretty good, at a 740 and 700. Other than that, the ECs are few in number, but what's important is whether your friend enjoys his ECs or not. If he does, he should be able to write a really good and passionate EC essay. If he's not, he won't be able to write a good EC essay, and people cannot fake passion. Admission officers can smell liars from miles away.

Chances:
Boston U: Match (a bit safer)
Carnegie Mellon: Match
Rice: Slight reach (try bumping your SAT a bit)
Worcester Poly: Not familiar with admissions
Rensselaer Poly: Ditto
Drexel: Ditto
Duke: Reach (SAT issue, questionable courseload, ECs)
JHU: Slight reach (ditto from Duke -- though I know someone who got rejected from JHU with a 2370 SAT)

Good luck!

She's taken all honors/AP courses. Her AP results are:

AP Stats - 4
AP Biology - 5
