So my best friend applied to William and Mary, and I thought I should post her stats and see what you all think.

Ethnicity: African American
Gender: Female
Location: Rural Virginia
GPA: 3.55W (bad, we know)
SATs: 1980/2400
Intended Major: Neuroscience

ECs:
Editor of School Literary Magazine
Vice-President of Historical Society
President of Creative Writing
Quill and Scroll (a writing honor society)
President of Thespian Honor Society
Captain of Debate Team

I forgot to add her AP classes

APs: 10 (Biology, Art History, World History, US History, English Lang, English Lit, Government, Calculus, Physics, Psychology)

The numbers are low but the ECs and classes seem strong. What are the individual SATs because W&M doesn’t really look at writing (last I checked) and that may have a big impact. I’d say it could go either way.

she had a 700 CR, 680M, and 600W.

Looks like your friend is certainly someone William & Mary would consider. The selective nature of W&M means that not every great applicant is admitted but certainly your friend has good SATs, classes, and extracurricular involvements. It’s in her best interests (especially if she’s doing well) to send her first semester grades when they become available.
