I'm a junior now and wondering what my chances are at some schools. Here are my stats:

I have taken very rigorous courseload (as seen by weighted GPA).
Plan to take 3 AP's next year (Calc, Bio, English) but I have not taken any yet.
Our school requires many prerequisites for the AP's you can take.
Our highschool is in the top 10% for MCAS scores as well.
Our highschool sends about 4 or 5 kids to top universities every year.

Schools I'm looking at:
Boston College
Cornell
Harvard
Yale
Umass - Amherst
MIT
Columbia
Dartmouth
Georgetown -Legacy

-will probably apply early decision to either Georgetown or Cornell, and early action to the rest...

-if you need any other information, please post
-if you think of any "matches", please post

In at Georgetown without question, and I think you have a good shot at Cornell.

A little hard to chance because in reality, Ivies are a little unpredictable. They get people with these stats every year, and some get in and some don't. But I do think you have a good shot, most certainly.

I'm willing to bet you get into Georgetown, although as far as the rest of the Ivies go, you might want to bring that ACT score up a point or two. other than that, very impressive!

you might want to throw in some other matches. You honestly have to go into assuming you wont get into any ivies, because some of the smartest kids often dont. With that said, get others on par with BC in there that have acceptance rates over 10%!!!

you never know whats gonna happen. youre set so far, though.

Boston College - Safety/low match.
Cornell - Reach… but not unlikely.
Harvard - Reach, for you and everyone else.
Yale - Reach, for you and everyone else.
UMass/Amherst - I don’t know anything about this school, lol.
MIT - Reach, for you and everyone else.
Columbia - Reach, for you and everyone else.
Dartmouth - Reach, but not unlikely.
Georgetown - I can’t see you not getting in.

Boston College - IN
Cornell - Reach (But is for everyone)
Harvard - Reach (But is for everyone)
Yale - Reach (But is for everyone)
Umass - Amherst - IN
MIT - Reach (But is for everyone)
Columbia - Low Reach
Dartmouth - Low Reach
Georgetown - Definitely in, I hear Georgetown values legacy more than others

I agree with pretty much everything other people have said. Your GPA is great, as is your rank, you’re in the ECs that look great (i.e. class pres, passion for music, NHS, community service, and sports), and the ACTs are good, but based on your other stats they could go up.
The one thing I would like to know is what classes are you taking? How many APs, honors, etc?
Overall, you look really good.
I wanna break these down into 4 categories: Reach for everyone, Reach with a shot, Match, and Safety.

Safety:
UMass Amherst - I live in Mass, and you could write explicitly in your essay, “I do not want to go here”, and you would still get in lol.
Boston College - I’m assuming you live in Mass as well, so this becomes kind of a safety. This is on the border of Match and Safety, but you have a super good chance.

Match:
Georgetown - Even though you have Legacy and really good stats, Georgetown is one of the most elite schools in the country, arguably top 5 not including ivies. You have a very good shot though.

Reach w/ a shot:
Cornell - Very elite school, but you’re stats match up. The biggest thing with Ivies is standing out from the other thousands of applicants with great stats, but again you have a shot. Applying ED will help…a lot.
Dartmouth - Same as Cornell.

Reach for everyone:
I’ll rank these by order of chance (1 being the best chance, 4 being the least):
Columbia
MIT
Yale
Harvard
The thing about these schools is that they are reaches for everyone, but the only thing I can say, not meaning to be mean at all, is that you are #4 in your class right now, and that means there are three people ahead of you. I am in the same boat. Schools like Harvard look at that, so they don’t want fourth-best. Now, i don’t know anything about kids at your school, but all I can say is that you do have good ECs, so you could easily stand out. The biggest recommendation I can give you is take the ACTs again, definitely get a better Reading score (for MIT higher science), and then just pray lol. It’s a crapshoot when it comes to those four.

I don’t see you having a problem getting into Georgetown especially if recs and essays are good. As dreamsofivy said Ivy’s are hard for everyone but if you have really good essays and recs you have a good shot at getting in.

thanks guys! my superscore for the ACT turned up to be a 32, but I want to get a single score composite up to a 32+ as well. I agree with being #4…it’s tough when ranks that high are literally separate by .01-.001ths of a point. We’ll see at the end of this year I guess…

As for classes, lots of math and science, required foreign language (spanish), and required history

Math-
Honors Geometry, Honors Alg II, Honors Pre.Calc, AP calc (next year)

English
Honors 9, Honors 10, Honors 11, Standard (next year)

Science
Honors Bio, Honors Chem, Honors Anat. and Phys., Honors Physics, AP Bio (next year), AP computer science (next year)

Language
Spanish II (no honors II class), Spanish III Honors, Spanish IV Honors

History
Honors World History, U.S. History

Electives
Honors Anthropology

-interesting thing is that it is the only Anthropology class offered in this part of the state and uses a college textbook. Pretty cool
