Chance a girl who had a TERRIBLE high school experience

Hm. You have a very compelling personal story, I will admit. However, that GPA will be a killer. Have you looked into any local community colleges with transfer programs into the schools you’re interested in? I think they would be great to get a more solid footing academically (and burnish your stats for some larger schools) in addition to personal stabilization.

Unfortunately, I’m only familiar with a few schools on your list. For those schools, if you can make a clear and cogent explanation of your circumstances while not making it seem as if you are requesting pity - pardon me for my use of the word, for I do not mean to trivialize your circumstances - then you shall do quite well in admissions. However, if things go awry, make sure to have some good safeties.

Your story is heartbreaking. :frowning:
I think if you take the terrible struggles you’ve had to face and make it into a college essay not just about pity, but about what you’ve learned and how it’s made you a stronger person, you’ll appeal to the admissions committees of most of the colleges you listed.
2.7 GPA and 28 ACT really isn’t horrible for a few of the schools on your list. A couple of them are a little out of reach, though.
Paying for college will be the most important thing at this point, so whichever college gives you the best aid option(s), go for that one.

Best of luck! I hope you get admitted, and things start turning around! :)
