Chance a girl with MULTIPLE F's on her transcript.

Oh, a question:

So my power-track alg. II teacher put the stupid “lack of effort” cdomment on my transcript/report card, even though she sure as hell knew how freaking hard i worked.

Is that comment going to be like a super big red flag to colleges?

I mean for real, apparently giving me an F wasn’t good enough for her… she just HAD to make me look as bad as possible…

you must live in an undeveloped area because most schools have a guidance department that has EVERYTHING online. like transcripts. Obviously a transcript doesnt show every little comment, and honestly no1 cares.

Oh and it doesnt make sense how your 1st trimester junior year was so low. Im guessing they dropped you from fast track and your grades dropped as well?

“I’m a LOT smarter than my GPA, and I really need to find a way to make that come through…”.
Right now, the only possible way to show that you are “smart” is to have something like a 2300 SAT. Have you taken them yet?

Nicole, first, stop blaming your teachers. It’s done, it’s over and your energy needs to be positive and focused on the future.

Why all of the state schools? State schools tend to be much more numbers oriented than privates. I would look at some private colleges if money is not an issue. You are much more likely to get a thorough read and more attention to the fact that the bad grades were in one subject.

I would suggest you post on the parent’s board giving more detailed information such as ACT break down, what you want to study, where you’re open to geographically and what your ECs are. You can get help formulating a list that makes sense and avoid community college.

collegebound41-

I go to a school that routinely has our AcDec team score top 5 in the state (CA) and has once gone to nationals, scoring 8th overall

The school is in a fairly rich North Bay CA area and we do not have our transcripts online…
where did you get that idea from that underprivileged areas do not have transcripts online?

^^^its called a website. and they cost money to keep up. Usually if you have a poor school district you can’t afford a website. Common sense

EDit: i never said underprivileged areas. i said undeveloped, theres a HUGE difference

The problem is that you’re not accepting CC as a viable option because you are smarter than what your GPA shows us. But if you really want to make that completely clear, then CC is the perfect way to do that. It gives you a fresh new GPA to go on and with a 4.0 any University of your choice will take you in. So you either have to choose one of these options…

 1. Suck it up,Go to CC for two years and transfer to your potential
 2. Accept the advice of people on this website as far as your list is concerned
 3. Choose to disregard this site and follow your own path
 4. Find a way to show them your true potential despite having a low HS GPA.

I mean come on I divebombed my GPA my sophomore year the first half and Im learning to deal with it. Id rather not go to CC but if that was my only viable option then Id take it. its ultimately up to you. But you cant keep hoping against hope you’re gonna get a different answer from someone when after some hunred posts you’ve been hearing the same thing.

Youth today have such a victim complex. Lets face reality. Nobody put a gun to your head and forced you to take these math classes you consistently fail. There is something called free will.

That being said, I think this site will help you find what college you should be at.

[Michigan Community College Association](http://www.mcca.org/)

If I were an admissions office, the 1.6 in the first trimester of junior year is a huge red flag thwacking me in the face. I understand the math placement was lousy freshman and soph years, and it’s terrible that the GC didn’t help you get out of the class, but presumably by junior year you were in an appropriate placement? In what courses were the other Cs and Ds you mentioned in your original post?

Most of the colleges you have listed require 3 years of math, and encourage a fourth year. If you have Algebra I and Geometry but only one trimester of Algebra II you don’t meet minimum admission requirements. You are going to have to do some sort of credit recovery, or retake it. If you retake it senior year, you might have a shot. But you have to figure out a way to have three math courses at the level of Algebra I and above. Do it online, find a way. OR you don’t have a chance. With only 2 1/3 math classes, will you be able to graduate with a HS diploma? In my state, you would not be able to.

Oh my goodness, people…

I don’t know HOW MANY TIMES I have said in this thread that I am ONE HUNDRED PERCENT completely completely OPPOSED to going to a community college. It’s not even open for discussion.
I don’t care if I can transfer. I don’t care if they’re good. I will NOT, and I repeat NOT go to one.
So PLEASE stop suggesting them.
One person even posted a map of the community colleges in my state… seriously, am I THAT incapable of going to a decent college?
is being a B- student with good EC’s, AP’s, and good ACT scores THAT HORRID?

I mean, get real. You don’t need a 3.9 and a 33 on the ACT to get into a non-community college. But this thread is totally making me sad and totally making me feel ike i am ONE HUNDRED PERCENT summoned to a community college.

and to the people who DIDN’T suggest community college, and actually mentioned a non-CCm god bless you for having some faith.

This website is absolutely ridiculous. If an under-acheiving individual such as myself comes on here and tries to get some legitimate advice, they get flooded with rude PM’s saying “Stop ■■■■■■■■” and constant pressure to attend a CC. It makes you feel hopeless.

So. Does anyone want to suggest one or more NON- Community colleges? I said NON.

Thank you.

Quit flipping out because people are telling you the truth and not the fluffy sugar-coated goodness that you were obviously seeking. The reason people are emphasizing community college is because you claimed you wanted to prove you were smarter than your grades reflect. The reality is, for a person of your current status and situation, who wants to show that, the only viable option is community college. If you want to get into Berk, it’ll be impossible without that step. Nobody said you couldn’t get into a “decent” college. You just have colleges on your list that also reflect a desire to go to “better-than-decent” colleges and people were trying to tell you how to make that a reality.

hey nicole, all seem ok except UCB like everyone else has said. good luck, ill be a senior next year too

You think she’ll get into UMinn but be waitlisted by UNCW?

You should be fine for some of those schools, but since you live in Michigan why don’t you go to UofM or State? It is way cheaper and they’re just as good or better than the schools in your top ten.

You don’t have a chance at Berkeley. There are OOS kids with 4.0s who get turned down there. It’s the best public school in the country according to USNWR and I think a couple of Cs would turn them off, let alone Fs.

UI-Urbana is also a killer reach.

I’d take those two schools off your list, period. I don’t know enough about the others.

PS: My boyfriend goes to a CC. He’s a math major, and he is way smarter than I am, for a fact. He’s looking at awesome grad schools and you’d be lucky to have those kinds of opportunities. Just a thought.

It’s going to be difficult for you for most of these schools but I wish the best for you.
