Really hoping the the Drum Major awards show leadership within leadership, and that it also shows that I'm not just an Asian with the average music awards. I was the only Asian at the camp out of 200 :P

Please Chance! Thanks!

Your academics are pretty impressive; just try to get that SAT up unless you’re just planning to send that ACT. Your ECs are pretty good and your leadership roles are sufficient. However, an Asian with music will be seen as another typical Asian; but maybe universities will see your accomplishments and intense involvement in music as something that separates you from the bunch.

If you’ve think, chance mine too: Mine[/url”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1179672-chance-me-ivy-league-please.html]Mine

Thanks! I chanced back. Yeah, I’m really hoping the other groups shine through, like the percussion group playing at a state conference, jazz band, and being best in command as a drum major

You aren’t as typical as most Asian applicants, with drums and the like, and your academics are very good. Only thing to work on is the sats. Just curious, what math classes did you take 11th and twelth? You have some great academic ec’s and I am very impressed. But you have nothing finance related which is confusing, most of your ecs seem more targeted to Leadership/ premed. Good luck! Ou have a good shot

thanks! yeah, i’m studying for the SAT’s. GAH vocab words. And i didnt take math my junior year, but next year i’m taking Physics with Calculus and also Differential Equations. Yeah, idk about finance. I’m actually thinking of premed, but i’m keeping my options open.

Other than Michigan, they are all reach schools.
Better chances at Cornell, Northwestern, Rice and Wash U (if no FA).

Apply to Vanderbilt and Middlebury because being an Asian male might help your chances.

As my own school’s drum major I’m jealous as ****

Good work.

Sorry for double posting but

HAHA what. I’m Asian and I know lots of Asian musicians, from what I read, OP is anything but typical.

Go write good essays and you’ll be a happy kid in the spring.

Thanks guys for all the posts! I should also mention, I’m definitely the only Asian in my school. It’s a very rural town and the whole area is very country/farm oriented. Probably one of about 10 asians in our entire school district, not even exaggerating.

Asian? Sorry, don’t even apply. 35 ACT Vals are a dime a dozen.

No, but really, you shouldn’t need to post on CC to verify this. Your chances are good.

SUPER ASIAN! (except w/o the stellar test scores) apply to Duke or Wharton something Early Decision and hope for the best, you’ll probably get in with the boost of ED.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1181496-chance-harvard-scea-unc-ea-state.html</a>
chance back!

What is your top choice? Princeton and Harvard recently restarted EA programs, and I’d definately apply EA (not binding) to both of those, or ED to Penn (because like 1/2 the class is accepted ED there). But your stats are great (Don’t worry that much about sat- you won’t be denied for a 2220.) and along with all of the other ECs, you don’t really need that ED boost

thanks guys! Princeton and Harvard are both binding EA, so i can only apply to one. but how significant is that ED boost?

Colleges love to see people apply for ED because it tells them that their school is your first choice and would go there even if you get in elsewhere. Well it’s not a golden ticket to that college, but with solid stats, chances are you will get in.

If only you had 4 years of varsity basketball or something. You look kiiiiinda typical to me, but then again you gotta live in 16 different countries before you’re 16 years old and start 5 million-dollar businesses to be considered out of the typical range.

You, like tons of people on this board imo, are qualified to apply to the ivies on your list. Like whatever ivy school said: a huge percentage of the applicants they get are good enough, but they can only take so many. in the end, the opinion of people on the chance board isn’t going to do much for ya. your time would better spent on getting started on the essays than on getting chanced. your stats are fine, so just focus on making yourself seem extra special/unique through the essays and cross your fingers. the only person who can get you into your dream school is you. what do we know? good luck!

You are a very qualified candidate for any of the schools that you listed! As for your “anti-hook” it may hurt your chances a bit, but you definitely stand out! congrats on your achievements so far!

u have a great shot at all of those schools! Good luck!
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1182976-chance-me-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

The biggest problem I see is a lack of focus in your EC’s. You seem like the jack of all trades person judging by all the EC’s you mentioned. Sure you may have done well in some of them, but nothing amazing. However, your internships are impressive and can make or break your application depending on how you “market” them to adcoms.

You should get into anywhere.

chance me?
