When you commented on this post, you said that I was incompetent at simple calculation, even though I was right. Then you go on to say that the numbers don’t matter. Fallacy if I’ve ever seen one. Numbers matter much more than individual grades.

You have no idea who I am, yet you say I have no place in such an institution. Well, unless you go there, that’s ******** too.

^So what you’re saying is that when the colleges look at your transcript they will not see those 14 B’s and 2 C’s? If that’s true, you and your principal have a severe lack of integrity, and I quite frankly don’t think a person like that should get into Princeton. If you are not going to cover up your B’s and C’s, do you really think that the colleges won’t personally look at your grades and ask themselves how that adds up to a 3.91 with some college classes averaged in??? (a 3.91 is the equivalent of all A’s and 3 to 4B’s on your final transcript for ALL 4 years) They do have calculators at Princeton, you can bet on that… The reality is that you have a 3.625 GPA and you better learn to live with that instead of making up ridiculous excuses and accusing other people of being incompetent.

OP, don’t worry too much about it. Even if you did get 14Bs, 1 D, and whatnot, you show a clear upward trend in your grades and your others areas are definitely not lacking. Best of luck.

@Calvin + Judgment, I don’t understand why you guys are wasting your time trying to tell the OP what GPA he has. Even if he was wrong- at this point- it doesn’t matter who is correct, the grades are already on his transcript. It’s up to the admissions officers to decide when they see his application.

@overachiever
Yes I am aware that they look at everything and calculate everything to make sure it adds up. And it does.
Really, this was fun and all, and thanks for the refreshing take on the situation, wongtong, but please, no more comments if they aren’t about my original question.

Hey buddy, unless you go to Princeton, please don’t talk about my situation in such a disparaging manner. I quite frankly think that you have no buisness insulting me when I simply asked for a damn chancing.

Let me ask you a question: Are you calculating your GPA based on the 4.0 grading scale? If you’re not, I’ll drop the subject, but if you are, there’s no reason to get so defensive about it. You HAVE a 3.625 GPA on the 4.0 GRADING SCALE. Even with 4 college classes averaged in, the change in GPA will NOT bump you up to a 3.91 UNWEIGHTED.

Also, in a sense I gave you a “damn chancing” earlier…

I’m amazed by some people’s inability to detect sarcasm. Calvin, did you actually think I’d attempted to calculate the OP’s GPA out to seven decimal places under his “principle’s” secret formula?

“I appologize for being immature, but please don’t tell me that Im going to be immediately rejected. That’s just bs.”

OP, if you’re so confident that you can stand out among the thousands of exceptional princeton applications, why did you make this thread in the first place? you clearly do not need a chance thread to tell you if you’re good, what with your 3.91 or whatever GPA and amazing SAT scores and recs. i think you just wanted to tell people how great you think you are. just my personal opinion. no offense.

@tintin-Not really. I wanted to be assured that if I am not a qualified applicant, then what the hell will make me one?
That kind of chance-seeker.

Also, from my experience, not everyone is intel semifinalist and a siemens semifinalist and a usabo qualifier, so I think I will stand out. Just a guess. I don’t know.

Isn’t that the same as saying you want to be assured that someone as amazing as you will be qualified for P…? Just thought I’d like to point that out. And also, I think you are qualified.

My sincere apologies. Next time I’ll make sure to download a program on my computer that allows me to detect people’s tones of voice on the internet so I can clarify if one is being sarcastic or not.

Post #17 was deadpan but the sarcasm was pretty obvious, I thought, which made post #18 really funny. Post #19 floored me, “what a tool”, I thought. But it was all good for a laugh. No worries.

Good luck to all of you.

Edit: For the record, Judgement and Calvin, I think your analyses were spot on.

Not if you’ve dealt with the type of people I’ve dealt with.
Especially if your guidance counselor didn’t have college education.
And yes, I’m implying that I assumed Sherpa’s one of such types of people.
