I just wanted to get an idea of where I stand.
Thank you all for your invaluable advice on these forums, I'm addicted to college confidential.

It looks great, but why is your weighted average a 99? Obviously, that’s good, but I would have expected it to be higher because of your other scores. Maybe our schools weight classes differently. My school gives 8 points extra on AP classes and 5 on honors classes. So, a student with all high A’s would have a weighted GPA over 100.

Thanks violagirl and betc27
I’ve actually posted this before on the harvard forum and they said i was lacking in a “wow factor”
And my gpa is a 99 because APs and Honors get weighted 5 pts each, but I took a lot of electives that are not weighted, but were high As. I believe my recalculated gpa would be over 100

i disagree with viola in that you could very easily get rejected from an ivy league, especially harvard for any random reason,

your school grades and sat 2s are great, your SAT 1 is okay though (for a harvard applicant), your dedication to physics and engineering comes out through ur EC’s, which is great as well.

it’s just that… it’s harvard… and they’re looking for reasons to reject people and not accept them =/

all in all i hope ye get in, but realize that at the end of the day wherever you end up, it’s you that’s gonna make your future, regardless of which college you’re in =)

A weighted GPA of 99 seems alittle low for Harvard to me honestly and your critical reading SAT score seems alittle low. Everything else seems great though and I think your south asian descent will help you. If your essay was a really good one and gives Harvard a reason to want you then I think you have a good chance. Pretty much your essay could have been your wow factor.

Your CR score is low for Harvard. Everything else looks very impressive.

I think you’re a very competitive applicant overall, but I can’t make any predictions. All I’m saying is that I wouldn’t be surprised to hear you were accepted (but I wouldn’t be surprised if you were rejected either; such is the nature of college admissions, especially at Harvard). Hopefully your essays are good.

Niflheim, 690 is probably sub-par harvard standards

Koharvard, im not “lacking” wow factor, i just didnt cure cancer

bballer92 i agree with every word you said, spot on mate!

Ghostt, you are the one person on this list who i believe will be the most successful in life. your social skills are awesome and i commend you for that. I commented on your credentials, and believe me, your credentials are impressive.

with that said, good luck to everyone applying to college

I’ve learned to not take anything said on this forum seriously, for most of us are NOT adcoms and we probably dont know what we’re talking about lol

there’s nothing that stands out. You’ve got a shot, but it’s a reach just like everyone else, but you definitely have great stats. Where else are you applying?

personally, i think my acheivements show that I am environmentally conscious
my research is on alternative energy
i initiated a recycling program
i uploaded my research documents to a website so i could save paper and not mail them my 20 page research report

NewAccount, what if i told you that this thread is a part of a study that tabulates the frequency at which people get agitated by chance threads?

Hmm.
You’re insanely intelligent, just like 1000s of others that apply, but you’re not up to par with Harvard. There is nothing outstanding that I see, and unless you are an URM or Legacy, I don’t see anything happening.

Sorry, your resume is pretty impressive, but you should see some of your other choices.

Everything looks really good other than your SAT CR score, which isn’t even bad, it just isn’t stellar like the rest of your credentials. The only thing lacking is leadership… which I don’t think should be a huge deal-- at least you were treasurer of mathletes.
