**Moved around alot Sophomore year (to Kansas and back)
and this really affected my GPA (HEAVY INFLUENCE TO GPA I am having assistant princiapal write about this)

Adv. Robotics Engr.

What are my chances for Mellon, I'm liking the idea of Mech. Eng. with a Robotics Influence

That is one amazing profile. For some odd reason I think you have a really good shot of getting in regardless of your GPA.

Thank you very much, I hope that colleges see my circumstance.
Anybody else?

Think you stand a great shot, particularly if you aren’t applying to ECE. I think they will give you a boost due to a competitive high school. Plus, if CMU is a top school for you, why not also apply to IS, MCS and H&SS? Then you would have an even better chance…transfer to ME later if you want.

Thanks, Ill consider doing that, but it is kinda far

I think you have a very good shot, even without retaking your SAT 1 and 2 exams. Your GPA isn’t too too low (its certainly higher than mine, and I’m applying SCS :P) especailly considering that you go to a good school, and have good SAT scores. Make sure you work really hard on your essays, I feel they have more of an effect than most people think.

Thanks for the chance and the advice,
Good Luck for SCS I heard its competitive.
Do you think that they will consider my circumstances?

I do think they may consider your circumstances…but on the other statement, what do you mean (post #5) that it is kinda far?

Plus, is CMU a serious consideration for you or just a backup?

Its definently not a back-up,
but due to the distance, cost of living etc. it is not my number 1 choice. (I don’t really know what is)

If I got accepted to CMU it would be a very diffucult decision
My main interest is to go in for Aerospace Engineering, but because CMU does not have aerospace I’ll go with Mech. I love CMU because of the Robotics

Recently I have been reading that Undergrad - Mech to Grad - Aerospace is very common. So I believe that with a background in Robotics/Mech engr. from CMU I can get into a good grad Aerospace Program.

Ah, I see your point. Have you considered Purdue? That is supposed to be extremely good aerospace engineering, pretty easy to get into and not near as expensive as CMU. Alot of good colleges with your major available.
good luck!

Yep i am applying to most of those, but the OOS tution is killer, thanks for the post
I applied to Purdue yesterday

I doubt the OOS tuition at any of those schools is higher than CMU. CMU is expensive and can be stingy w/financial aid. I know this as my S is sophomore ECE.

Also, for Mech E you will have to apply to CIT (the engineering school at CMU). Mellon is Biology, Chemistry, Math & Physics.

Yes CIT I love the name sounds like MIT. anyways
Thanks for the info about CMU tuition, and fin. aid
I hope I will get fin. aid because our income is below 60k
