Chance a homeschooler?

Hello! I am just hoping to get some insight on if I making the right choices on which colleges I should apply to, thanks for any advice/tips! I understand that being a home schooler makes it more difficult to chance me but just look at me like any other student.

I'd especially like input on how my course load looks and how much my low SAT score will affect my chances.

SAT Scores:

1st time: 1510 [CR:620, M:440, W:450, E:6]

2nd time: 1780 [CR:690, M:520, W:590, E:8]

3rd time: 1760 [CR:700, Math:500, W:560, E: 8]

Super Score: 1810

I will be taking one last time in Oct.

SAT II: Literature 650

ACT: 26 [E 26, M 24, R 31, S 23]

ECs:

I have a working student under the UNC-Chapel Hill Equestrian team coach/PE Teacher for the past 5 years.

I have had 2 jobs since I was 15.

I was on my Church's youth Council for 4 years, VP for 1 year, I expect to president senior year.

I've been teaching beginner riding at a summer camp for the past 3 years.

I may be volunteering with a Large Animal Vet or trying to get a job at a local pharmacy for the fall. (Will this be too late to put on my applications?)

I've bought, cared for and trained my horse (ex-racehorse) from the ground up with no financial help from my parents. I am very committed to her and that is where the majority of my time is spent out side of school.

GPA and Courses

I will not need financial aid. I am in-state for all below except VA Tech.

Chance me for: UNC-CH, NC State, VA Tech, Appalachian State, UNC Charlotte, Campbell University, St. Andrews Presbyterian College.

Thanks!

decent gpa but TERRIBLE test scores:

UNC-CH : NOPE, HELL NO.
NC State: Yes
VA Tech: 50/50
Appalachian State: Yes
UNC Charlotte: 50/50
Campbell University: dunno
St. Andrews Presbyterian College: dunno

looks like you should’ve went to a real school.

I appreciate the imput, I know UNC is a huge reach but I was placing VA tech and UNC as closer expecially since I’m instate to UNC and oot for VA Tech. Why do you think that I have a better chance at VA Tech.

As for not homeschooling, I didn’t have a choice before 11th grade and then it was the option of a private christian school that would have taught me nothing. So I opted to continue with the homeschooling.

Seeing that my public schools average is about 1350 I doubt I’m not doing too much worse on my own than there. Am I frustrated that my parents chose to homeschool me? Yes but I am trying to make the best of it. :/

If I can get my SAT scores up to 1900 how much will that improve my chances?

<< b u m p >>

b u m p i t y

Your scores are low but not terrible. There is no way your public school average is a 1350, that is extremely high as an average.

Unc ch- mid reach
nc state- in
va tech- low reach
appalachain - in

no clue of the rest, your ECs are ok, nothing special. I don’t understand how the homeschool grading works but your GPA is very good, so I really don’t know how that will be viewed by the colleges.

Good luck!

I meant 1350 out of 2400, it is about 800 for M/CR.

My homeschool grades are just like any other school setting, just taught differently. Some are through video programs, some online, others straight up learning out of a book. All have homework/projects/tests/quizzes each of which I studied for and took, my mom grades from the teacher’s manuel just like any other teacher.

It seems sketchy no A- or B+ just A or B

That’s just because I am too lazy to go and look up the actual grades in my grade book, lol. That is also why I said my gpa is about a 3.7 . :)
