...I'm an avid runner, they like runners right?(They don't call Eugene Track Town USA for nothing)

I'm a descent writer so I think I can writing a solid essay.

Should I even bother applying???

and it’s my dream school if that matters at all.

I think it’s really hard to say, which is why folks here aren’t hazarding a guess. I think it’s not highly likely, but who are we to say it’s not possible? Maybe if you’re out-of-state but are a full-pay student… that may help around the edges, or so some folks speculate. It’s just hard to say. Maybe the admissions person from UO who posts here will weigh in.

Hi cantcatchme and 'rentof2: as an official representative of the UO, I’m afraid I can’t respond to individual “chance” requests. In this case, I can point out a couple of pieces of general information though: 1) unlike a lot of California schools we consider your full high school GPA, including freshman year and 2) if your GPA falls below 3.00, we may use the chart on this page to determine your eligibility: [Alternative Admission Chart | Admissions](http://admissions.uoregon.edu/apply/gpachart.htm).

Not to be a downer but I have a 3.3 unweighted GPA, a 1960 on my SAT, college credit because of AP courses, and also did Varsity Track for four years, and I was deferred. I would still give it a shot though, I know people with lower stats than mine that got in, make sure you write a quality essay! good luck!

We were surprised that our son was recently deferred. He has a 3.2 GPA for grades 9-11 at rigorous Catholic high school, 1770 SAT, varsity athlete, strong extracurriculars, 2 part time jobs, not to mention what I feel was a great essay…

He has been accepted at 5 other schools early action. I know it’s your dream school but take heart that if you don’t get in you will get in some place else!
