Thank you very much for any and all help and i will be certain to chance back.

Much too soon to chance. Get your grades up. Talk to us in the fall. And why is your SAT so high and your gpa so low?

well my freshmen year pretty much ruined my gpa…a solid 1.5…but my mom had recently passed and i was just with the wrong group of kids and didn’t bother to do any of the work…but i am a pretty bright kid

I don’t like to chance and I’m not really sure how the school would act with your profile (GPA way below average, SAT way above average), but I would suggest that somewhere in your application that you directly explain the reasons behind your freshman year problems, your strong upward trend in grades and your hopes going forward. This can be done in many places (your essay, a supplemental letter, the additional information section of the application). Perhaps also a dean or teacher can address it as well.

I think that a few schools don’t count freshman year grades very much so you may want to check into that as well (but I don’t know which ones). You may want to also look into some schools where you will have a chance to interview with an admissions officer to discuss your situation directly. Good luck.
