chance a junior :D

GPA: 3.8 UW (fresh+soph yr only), 3.7 UW (junior yr)
SAT: 750 M 600 CR 700 W
SAT II: Math II, USH, World - no scores yet
EC:
Honor Societies (Math, English, History, Science, FL) -- honor societies are extremely easy to get into as long as you dont have an honor code/bad grades
Key Club, MUN (4 awards, 7 conf.), Art TA for two years, Hospital Intern for two years, Amnesty Int'l, Yale Summer Program, Visual Arts Portfolio
Classes: AP World, APUSH, APLANG, APCALC. Senior YR: APSTAT, AP GOV, AP Chinese, AP BIO, AP Art

Colleges I would like to go to/apply to:
Hopkins (obvious reach) - ED
BC - EA
Villanova - EA
NYU - ED
CMU -ED
UNCCH - EA
state school: W&M - ED
state school: UVA - EA(?)
state school: GMU/ VCU

I also put down which schools have EA/ED.

My top schools I want to go to are JHU, BC, NYU or W&M.

Which schools I have a higher chance of getting in? If there are other schools out there for me if anyone could recommend I would be grateful. thanks in advance!

I think your CR score is low :/

i’d say you have a pretty good chance at those schools, though NYU and John Hopkins may be slight reaches. your clubs are good and your GPA is nothing bad, so what i would do is maybe retake the SAT (or try taking the ACT if you haven’t) for a higher score. then apply early decision/action to the school of your choice and you might just get in!

I think the tougher ones will be BC, Hopkins, CMU and UNC. I would say good to excellent chances at the others. Best of luck!

I don’t think any are out of particular reach for with your stats (especially your ecs). I would try to bring your critical reading up but your combined avg. is still pretty good. You qualified, you just are applying to very popular schools. Because of that I think it would be very important to strongly convey your passions in your app. Luck!
**ps chance me:)

Yeah my CR score is pretty low. Are there other schools out there for me other than these? Maybe small liberal arts colleges?

The downward trend of the GPA rises an eyebrow. I would recommend you do very well first semester of senior year. Your schedule, however, seems strong which is a plus. If I were you, I would retake the SAT just for your CR score; it’s not necessary, though.

As far as chances go, I would say:

Hopkins (obvious reach) - ED – high reach (ed will help)
BC - EA – reach
Villanova - EA – match
NYU - ED – low reach
CMU -ED – high reach (ed will help)
UNCCH - EA – high reach (out of state)
state school: W&M - ED – low reach
state school: UVA - EA(?) – low-mid reach
state school: GMU/ VCU – most likely in/safety

Seems like a great list of schools to me. Your chances have potential to go up considerably if you improve your CR score and perform well first semester of your senior year.

Good Luck!

Some others to possibly check into are Denison (OH), Skidmore (NY), Fordham, Bard (NY), Muhlenberg ¶, Oberlin (OH) and Boston University. Best of luck!

Thank you so much. I just wanted some other opinions on what colleges are better for early decision…? Because I heard that early decision isn’t as helpful for the bigger colleges.

And I really like any schools with great international relations majors if there are any out there.

International Relations?
Georgetown

Georgetown is an SAT whore is the impression I got. And they don’t look at writing I dont believe.

Definitely apply though. You’re a strong candidate.
