Chance a Junior for ED at Brown?

Hey guys,

I'm relatively new to this site, but I couldn't help notice the College Chances section and decided to post what have in order to get some more information regarding my chances at Brown University. This is pretty much the only college I want to go to and I'm willing to apply Early Decision to it when the time comes next year.

I'm of Romanian heritage- first generation US citizen. Born in Romania and family immigrated when I was 3 years old. (not sure if this should help or not)

Service- Over 100 hours of combined service at various locations (Red Cross/Habitat for Humanity/St. Bernard Project)

You seem like a strong applicant. My advice to you is that you shouldn’t ED to Brown because I don’t believe Brown yields a high percentage of its freshmen pool from ED. I would recommend applying EA to many good universities such as Caltech,MIT,UMich,UVA,UChicago etc and doing RD to Brown. Work on more leadership and try to look into what Brown likes in a student(demonstrative interest, workshops, etc) and see what will be best for you next year. Good luck!

Thanks alot! thanks for the advice also. I’m still most likely going to ED at Brown, I’m pretty set on it!

All I can say is rejection/deferral ED to your favorite school may be very hard to deal with. Rather, knowing you could have a shot at a top university with a higher overall statistical chance will be better for you sanity.
