Chance A Junior for Princeton?

ACT: 30
SAT: Did not take it - will that hold up against me?

Junior Schedule

IB Math Studies - C
IB Psychology - A
IB English I - A
IB Spanish IV - A
IB European History - A
IB Biology I - A
IB Theory of Knowledge - A

Unweighted GPA - 3.21
Weighted GPA - 4.45

I had a rough start frosh/soph years, but really put in the hardwork my junior year. I am a part of the National Honors Society, I rank in the top 10% of my class, I am an IB student, and have been since 5th grade, I am on the soccer team, the debate team, and Yearbook. I was also a People to People Student Ambassador, and traveled to Italy, France, and England. I really didnt even believe that college was an option until I found Princeton... So be honest with me - what are my chances?

Is your school really hard since you have a 3.21 UW GPA but are still in the top 10%?

^Well, that seems like, yes, it would mean that his school is hard - if a 3.21 is top 10%, then it’s very hard to get good grades. Or else no one tries, I guess…

Well i consider my school hard, especially when this years valedic. graduated with a W 5.2 and went to UPenn. My school also ranks in the top 5% of schools in the nation according to USNews

To be honest, not very high. But you’ll have a much higher chance if you raise your test scores.

Only 2% of the students accepted to Princeton last year had a GPA between 3-3.24 on a 4.0 scale. No one had a GPA lower than 3. Furthermore, your ACT score is at the 25th percentile for accepted Princeton students.

Statistically speaking, your chances are low. However, Princeton doesn’t consider freshman grades, so perhaps that will bring your GPA up when applying.

Also, 98% of accepted students submitted SAT scores. So, again, you would be in a minority if you did not.

^^^^^ I agreed with your post until you said,

"Also, 98% of accepted students submitted SAT scores. So, again, you would be in a minority if you did not. "

It doesn’t hurt the OP if he/she took the ACT instead of the SAT, as long as either score is high…

Ouch… 3.21 GPA

I doubt it…
