Haven't decided on safeties yet!

Thanks for the chances guys!

Everything looks solid, though having an even better SAT score would help. International admissions is very difficult.

Thanks mate. Anyone else?

Anyone at all?

Hey guys, could anyone please chance me? I really need this.

Wharton - Reach
Columbia - Reach
Dartmouth - Reach
Cornell - Low Reach
MIT - Reach
Carnegie Mellon - In
NYU Stern - In
Brown - Reach
University of Chicago - Match
University of Michigan - Ann Arbor - In

I considered your international status.

Wharton - reach
Columbia - high target/low reach
Dartmouth - reach
Cornell - high target
MIT - high reach
Carnegie Mellon - target
NYU Stern - target
Brown - mid reach
University of Chicago - target
University of Michigan - Ann Arbor - target

(target = excellent chances)

The only thing I could possibly see as troubling for you is your SAT score, but your hook - an Indian expat living in Hong Kong - will ensure your uniqueness when applying to these places and a lot of times it seems like that more than anything else makes or breaks it.

Please chance back!

i don’t really see anything as a red flag (i don’t think your SAT score is too bad either especially considering you’re an international) but most of those schools there’s really no telling what could happen. i would say nyu, cmu, university of michigan are good fits for you.

Thanks a lot guys! I also only have 2 SAT IIs, don’t want to do a third one because all the other ones don’t relate to subjects I take so I may not get 800. Do you recommend I take a third test (possibly in Spanish) and even when I get a 700, I explain that I only started learning the subject a year ago?

the spanish SAT is pretty hard…unless you’re a genius at it getting a 700 after one year is going to be pretty hard. which 2 have you taken already?

You might not want to parade “AMC12 [INTERNATIONAL] - top 10% internationally amongst more than able mathematicians” around - I think many (if not most of those who chose economics as their intended major) applicants qualify for the AIME (top 5%), so it might not be a singificant enough achievement. The same goes for the other exams; in my opinion, it’s only worth mentioning if you score in the top fifth percentile.

Then again, being a junior myself, I’m not sure if I’m qualified to pass judgement on this - just throwing this out there and maybe someone with more experience could corroborate or repudiate this.

Oh, I got 800 in Maths IIC and Physics.

For the AMC12, I could reword it to 4th in the whole school (missed out in AIME by 2 marks :S). Also, I know that there are 5 spots so I am looking to fill them up.

Which of the following 3 options do you guys recommend I go with:

Not put AMC at all

Say I came 4th in school - [SCHOOL]

Say I came in at least top 10% internationally - [INTERNATIONAL]

Thanks for the feedback guys.

So what do you guys recommend?

How come not so many people chance?
