recs and essays should be pretty strong; I've got a good rapport with some great teachers and writing is one of my passions

sorry that it's unorganized, it's late. I'm not sure of what I want to major in; I was considering going the pre-med route, but I've been seriously considering political science, which explains the somewhat unfocused ECs.

as of yet, I'm considering ED to UPenn (I'm in-state, for what it's worth)

my top 5 (if I'm not accepted):
Yale
Columbia
Northwestern
Duke
Vanderbilt

As for safeties, I'm thinking UPitt and Penn State.

Wow your stats are really impressive! in my view you have everything you need to be accepted at any of the schools you mentioned(great GPA, rank, standardized tests and EC’s) make sure to write good essays and hope for the best because admissions to Yale or Columbia are sometimes random. Best of luck.
Chance me back, please:

I’m pretty sure you will get into one of your top 5 your stats and everything else is impressive. Work as hard as you can Junior year and try to get more internships/win more awards that are related to what you want to study(you seem like a science person to me) I suggest you try some matches so I would suggest a school like Boston College, Georgetown or Tufts.

Chance me?

You have a great chance for u of penn. Yale and Columbia are never for sure but your perfect stats and ec’s will get you to your top college.

Your stats are awesome and EC’s are impressive! You could focus on your research experience in your essays to show your passion, and you are set. You are definitely competitive for all of the colleges you listed. Good luck!

Chance me back please: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1390257-chance-canadian-aiming-top-schools.html

Great academics and amazing EC’s. But you know they’re all gonna be reaches; even so you’ve got a pretty good shot of getting into a few of them. Keep it up!

I am also Indian, if that hurts at all

I am also Indian and from what i know, it does hurt because we are so over represented as a “minority” in top schools. However, your stats are amazing and there is no reason why you should not get into at least 1 or 2 of your top 5 schools!

Chance Me?

you have excellent stats and solid EC’s.
I would say that you’re probably going to get into one of your top 5 universities

Being in-state for Penn is irrelevant UNLESS you actually live in Philadelphia, need financial aid, and are a candidate for the Mayor’s Scholarship.

Your application sounds similar to thousands of others they get. I don’t see a particular argument for admission or rejection.

you have a good chance, especaially since you live in Penn. what did you get on your sat 2s? everything else like gpa and act seem strong

thanks guys

bump…anyone else?

…

Your stats are amazing, no need to be worried! :)

I will be shocked if UPenn does not accept you, esp. if you apply ED

Dude, you’ve got UPenn locked! Like catchtwentythree said, I would be shocked if they don’t accept you. I’m also pretty sure that you’re in at Northwestern, Duke, and Vanderbilt. I don’t know what Yale and Columbia would do, all though I’m sure with an app like this, they will give you a thorough look. And finally, you’re totally in at PSU. I looked at their admissions chart a few months ago, and you’re in the range of almost guaranteed acceptance into UPark! Good luck dude!

Great chances, write great essays and you have a good chance at any of your schools, especially UPenn ED. It is worth mentioning that these schools as everyone knows are highly selective, so nothing is guaranteed… Looking at the results threads every spring for schools like these are… humbling to say the least. I don’t want to discourage you, just adding a bit of realism to the other poster’s praises, even though I agree with them.

I feel like you have this in the bag for ED. Your GPA/ECs are incredible. Only suggestion i’d add would be to bring up ACT to 35 or at least even out your sections (32 in math is eh). Then again you’re applying to poli sci which is (imo) unorthodox of a choice for a major as an indian. So maybe an indian interested in social sciences (as opposed to STEM) may look favorably upon you. That is all

I would, as others have said, be extremely surprised if you do not get into at least 2 of the schools you listed.

thanks y’all

Go for it  Your stats are def Ivy quality. Might want to post your AP scores though.
