Hoping to take some national science contests this year and adding on more extracurriculars.

Chance me for:

UCBerkeley
UCLA
UChicago
Stanford
Princeton
Columbia
Cornell

Any other advice would also be helpful =)

Thanks =)

UCB and Cornell: High match
UCLA, Chicago, Columbia: Low reach
Princeton and Stanford: …are Princeton and Stanford. Your application looks good, but nobody can predict applications to the top tier of schools without a deck of tarot cards.

The UC’s like out-of-state students because of the higher tuition tags (our noble state is in a budget crunch and their funding is drooping), and they pride themselves on diversity, so being an international applicant could help you quite a bit. I wish you luck!

Chance me back, please? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1118399-chance-theatre-acting-inclined-junior-ill-chance-you-back.html#post12333784</a></p>

UC Berkeley: high match, same with UCLA. I would say you have very strong stats, but being out of state and probably needing merit aid as an international will hurt you.
Cornell, Chicago, and Columbia: unpredictable, but I would say you have a very good chance.
Princeton and Stanford: no chancing, THAR BE DRAGONS.

Still, I will defer to the above poster; being an international applicant may help, but financial aid will be an impediment.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1116338-chance-me-ill-chance-back-promise.html</a></p>

I was accepted to UC Berkeley and UCLA this year (though they accepted a ton of people from my school, probably due to the budget cuts), and I’d say that you have a pretty good shot at both of them.

I’m not sure how much research you’ve done regarding your school choices, but UChicago and Cornell seem like odd choices for you considering that much of your application revolves around musical activities. I would think that UChicago and Cornell are better fits for potential engineers. But then again, if you really love those two schools, it’s up to you.

As for Stanford, Princeton, and Columbia, obviously you can’t really predict anything, seeing as all three of those schools had a below 10% admission rate this year. One of the kids who was accepted to Stanford from my school this year also had a heavily music-centered application.

However, I feel like nothing from your application REALLY stands out. I think you’re lacking the “wow” factor that will set you apart from the rest of the Asians who also have wonderful ECs and grades. In particular, I think you’re lacking leadership. You seem to be a “member” of various activities but that’s it.

I hope this helps. Good luck with your essays and the application process! I wish you the best.

^ Haha, definitely caught me there on that one. I’ve only recently been looking into US universities, just really filling in them from the general buzz I hear about them.

That’s another weak point I have personally seen in my general application, and I hope to resolve that issue soon =/

Thanks for your help guys =)

^ Bump

(message is too short)

Bump again =P
