Bit of a long shot given your rank and sat score ( I think you should retake once more if it’s not your third try) but your ethnicity helps a good deal and you have some nice ECs and awards. Same deal with Stanford Dartmouth and MIT.

thnx mucho for the reply!! yes I’m retaking it in October, which is cutting it kind of close, but that’s how it turned out…what else should I improve, besides my rank?

I don’t see how you are going to change your rank between now and college application deadlines, and I doubt it matters. Admission to college is not a contest where the students with the highest stats win - if it were, then HYP would be populated exclusively by valedictorians. I think your stats are high enough to get your application looked at - and then it comes down to intangibles - how you present yourself on your essays, whether Yale is looking for people with your particular interests to round out its class, recommendations, etc. Being a female who is interested in science certainly won’t hurt you. It would be nice if you can bring up your scores as Cortana says, but you should look at stats of accepted students who are URMs - it looks like scores are given a bit less weight than for some other groups. All anybody can tell you is that you are somewhere in the ballpark. Just make sure you have a range of target schools and safeties that you like along with the reaches – especially financial safeties. Good luck!

For clarification only: AA is a racial category. The only ethnicity of interest in college admissions is Hispanic; Hispanics can be and are, of any race(s).

Agree that you should look at last year’s Results thread for AA applicants. Also check out the AA Students forum (under College Admissions, Speciality Topics) as well as the Hispanic Students forum (same place) as the Resources thread has information about many diversity fly-in programs that apply to all URMs.

Also, what is the breakdown on your SAT; hopefully the CR is 700+.

SAT: Math 740, Writing 710, Reading 690, but like I said I’m retaking it. What about my chances at UCLA, John Hopkins, and Carneigie Mellon
Btw, thanks to everyone who commented!!:}

^Please go to the What are my Chances? forum to ask.

FWIW, you are missing out on some of the most helpful parts of CC by concentrating on Chances.

I’m not sure about Yale with those scores, but apply ED and see what happens. I’m sure you’ll get into at least one of the schools you mentioned; your resume seems good enough.
