Chance a Junior in HS?

Hey guys.

So the first semester of my Junior year at St. Eds (Lakewood) is over, and I’m starting to consider college matters more seriously. Just looking for some outside analysis.

Freshman Year, 3.4GPA with 3/6 classes being Honors (English, Algebra II, Biology).
Sophomore Year, 3.6GPA with 4/6 classes being Honors (English II, Geometry, Chemistry, Latin II).
Junior Year so far, 3.85GPA with 2/6 classes being Honors (English III and Pre-Calc) and one AP (US History).

So right now, 2.5 years into high school, my cumGPA is around a 3.58. I think it’ll be stuck right in between a 3.6-3.7 by the end of the year.

Senior Year, I’m planning on taking 4 APs (Government, English IV, Biology and BC Calc). I’ll have taken 3 years of Latin (not taking a fourth). So I’m hoping with that first quarter, I can boost my GPA up to or close to a 3.7 by the time I send out my apps.

My extra-curriculars are my HUGE weakness. I haven’t done much.

-Fantasy Sports Club (10-11)
-Tutor at neighboring elementary school (started this year, I’ll probably have around 100 hours there by the time I apply)
-I’m in a band… ?
-Starting to write for school newspaper
-I work about 20-25 hours a week in the summer, 15 during school (dishwasher, been working there since 9th grade)
-Applying for summer internship somewhere, not sure which to choose yet

As you can see, some really weak stuff. I’m an avid gamer and fantasy sports fan, and I play music. Other than that, I work and just hang out with my friends.

I was sick for the PSAT, haven’t taken the SAT or ACT yet. But I can estimate scores, as I took some classes over the summer for them.

SAT: somewhere around a 1900-2000.
ACT: somewhere around a 26-28.

I go to a very competitive school, St. Edward College Prep, in Lakewood OH. I’d say I’m around top 25% out of a class of around 200.

What do you think my chances of getting in are, if my stuff looks like this when I apply:
-cumGPA of about a 3.7, risen throughout my high school career
-ECs that are above, maybe pick up a few more by the time I apply
-SAT/ACT around a 2000/27-28 cause I think I can step it up, especially if I need to take it another time or two

Thanks for your time.

I just got accepted with a little under a 3.7 GPA (also risen throughout high school), ACT 29, and a tonnn of EC’s including teaching english in poland for a summer. I’m from around Cleveland too and I know having a good GPA at St. Ed’s will be a major benefit, just try to get at least a 28 or 29 on your ACT. I would take it at least once in the next couple of months so you know what you’re working with, you know? You should be fine as long as you keep it up, and good luck next year!

Thanks!

I’m just worried a bit that I won’t get into Columbus because although I know my GPA and ACT will be just about good enough, I feel like my weak ECs will bring me down. I’m starting to work on them more though, so hopefully by next fall I’ll be in the clear.
