<p>Hey, I am a junior from a highly-rated public school outside of Atlanta, GA</p>

<p>My Choices:</p>

<p>Reaches: Duke (#1 x 1000000000000000), Stanford (#2 or 3), Columbia (#2 or 3), MAYBE Cornell and UPenn</p>

<p>Matches: Vanderbilt, Emory, NYU, Bucknell (legacy - mom, grandpa, grandma), JHU, UCLA, UC Berkeley (Note: I really have no clue if these are matches, this is how I guess they are)</p>

<p>Safeties: UGA, GA Tech</p>

<p>Stats:</p>

<p>SAT: 2170
M: 760
W: 760
CR: 650 (ew)
ACT: 34
Class Ranking: 22/730
GPA (UW): I haven't calculated this in awhile, but I have to say most likely 3.9ish
GPA (W): Probably like a 4.1</p>

<p>BASED ON A 4.0 SCALE!</p>

<p>Courseload:
Pre-highschool: H Algebra I, H Geometry, Spanish I
Freshman: H Algebra II, H English, H Chemistry, H Spanish I (I went to a boarding school with different standards for Spanish), Political Science, Religion, Acting, Graphic Design</p>

<p>Sophomore: H Precalculus, H English, H Biology, H Spanish II/III (I transferred back to public school in the middle of the year due to some medical issues), World History (school didn't offer AP, damn...), Guitar A</p>

<p>Junior (current): AP Calculus BC, AP Lang, AP Biology, AP Physics B, H Spanish IV, US History</p>

<p>Projected senior year: College Calculus 2 and 3, College English 102 or something, AP Microeconomics, AP Physics C, H Spanish V</p>

Financial Aid? yes
Legacy: Bucknell is it I am pretty sure unless there is one that stems from great grandparents, though I'd assume it wouldn't matter now.</p>

<p>Work Experience: Arby's (haha...) for summer 2008 as cashier and general management</p>

<p>My ECs are lacking, and it doesn't help that I transferred schools mid-high school career =/. It's hard to obtain a leadership position when you haven't been a prominent member, and that's why I am happy that NHS only accepts people junior year so I have a chance. I am also planning to start an engineering club next year, so who knows what will happen :)</p>

<p>So, chance me please. With my limited knowledge of the application process, I'll attempt to chance yours in return, haha</p>

<p>Anyways, out of state for UCs… you might have to reach a little… I know some people who didn’t get in even with the stats and ECs
And yes, you are at the reach zone for those schools you listed for “Reach” :3</p>

<p>Haha, yeah borb, I sort of just pulled some numbers because I really don’t know. My school didn’t calculate it for me. I can tell you that this semester my grade average this semester is 94.7 and weighted its 100.5 (school adds 7 points for APs and Honors). Yeah, I know it doesn’t exactly translate to GPA UW and W, but it is the best I can do at the moment. Also, in GPA, regular classes count as 4 and APs as 4.5 at my school.</p>

<p>Chris, my public school is 355. Maybe not as highly ranked as you were expecting, lol. It’s top ten in GA, however. Also, I haven’t taken SAT IIs yet, I take them May 2. I am going to take Math IIC and Physics, shooting for 800, or maybe 770+, in each.</p>

<p>i think you stand a chance at all of those, but duke actually is extremely extremely selective, more than people think…again, top schools like the ones you list are very difficult to gauge but you def have a good shot

<p>Since I can’t edit my post, I just recalculated my GPA:</p>

<p>UW: 4.05
W: 4.095</p>

<p>(APs get +.5 in both weighted and unweighted)</p>

<p>Numerical: 100.29 W (school only does weighted)</p>

<p>Write a good personal statement and you are set for the match schools…
Still iffy about the reach ones though</p>

<p>For the reach ones, I know I am smack dab in the middle 50%, it will all have to do with making myself stand out.</p>
