planned to apply to Stern or Liberal Arts ED, please tell me my chances, thank you.

youre in man no sweat

you’re ec’s are good but ur stats aren’t so…whats ur gpa unweighted? and i dont think that 800 in chinese matters that much…it just proves that ur…more chinese…take more subject tests n try the acts n do well on those n ur basically in. especially liberal arts

A 1300 SAT score is pretty low for NYU, the average for CAS is just under 1400 and for Stern 1450+. But it’s good if that was your first time taking it. Retake your SAT again, your math score should be a lot higher if you want to go into business.

Yeah NYU doesn’t like native speakers taking language SATs, so you should take two more SAT IIs.

Overall you’re on track, almost there!

You can’t apply directly to LSP.

Your SAT scores are pretty low, particularly for Stern, which will frown upon the low math score. I’d suggest really preparing for the SAT over the summer (maybe even taking a class) and re-taking it in the fall, which should still count for ED. Likewise, your SAT II is pretty much worth nothing, as a native language speaker getting an 800 on a language SAT II isn’t impressive. Take two more SAT IIs, particularly one of the math ones if you’re looking to apply to Stern. And yeah, what is your unweighted GPA? A 3.8 looks good on paper, but, for instance, at my high school, a weighted 3.8 was really low. Now, unweighted 3.8 is a whole different story…

Your ECs are fantastic. I’d say, you needn’t add anything else in that department, as you’ll either spread yourself too thin or inadvertently look like an EC hoarder.

I would say Match for LSP.

High Match for CAS. If you do go and apply ED, I think it would go back down to match. Just bring your SAT’s up to 2100+. Also, if you are applying to Stern your chances significantly decrease. PM me if you have any questions.

uh, seriously? his stats look sub-LSP right now, so i wouldn’t say in no sweat.

i don’t mean to be harsh, just want to be honest. retake your tests.

take another subject test besides chinese. being able to speak chinese is awesome but as a native, it really isn’t impressive.

I agree with the above. The numbers aren’t a high match for CAS, either, as a 1300 is on the very low end of the range, and the OP still doesn’t have any usable SAT II scores.

my unweighted is like a 3.4,
i’m taking the sat 2 for math and united states history
if i apply early decision to college of arts and science would i have alot better chance? thank you.

Stern is a long-shot. Take SATII MathIIC, bring that GPA up to 3.6-3.7, bring the SATI up to 2150+, and you’ll be okay.

Your unweighted GPA is also pretty low. I think, as Lobzz said, that Stern is a definite reach, unless, by some miracle, you DO manage to get your GPA up to a 3.7+ (though I think that’s nearly impossible if you’ve only got one more marking period to do it in).

Those SAT IIs are good for CAS. Just make sure you get 650+ on both, 700+ if you can manage it.

Are you going to re-take the SAT? Because I think that if you want to apply to NYU overall, you really should. While you still have a chance, as such things do happen, particularly for people with such great ECs as yours, it’s an absolute toss-up.

I think ED gives you better chances, but someone else should know better than me.

When you apply ED, I believe the Admissions Committee are more lenient on your scores and gpa because they know you’ll definitely come if they accept you.

Right now you are on the lower end of the score range but you do have a chance at CAS ED. If you want to do business, econ in CAS is excellent and has a high job placement rate as well.

so i do have a chance at only CAS in early decision? also how hard is it to transfer to stern from CAS? thank you.

Yeah, I agree with the posters above. If you could slightly increase your GPA and SATs (just slightly), you could very well get into CAS ED. I think that you can transfer to Stern Econ from CAS Econ if you have a solid GPA etc. Worry about that later. Just try to get in. Good luck.

I agree with Lobzz, one thing at a time.

I’m gonna have to disagree with NuclearPakistan1 and Lobzz.

If you’re sure you want to do business apply to Stern because you may never transfer in to Stern(transferring is known to be very difficult) and you will be stuck in CAS wondering whether you would have gotten in as a freshman if you applied to Stern in the first place.

Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, transferring to Stern from CAS is really difficult because they will presume you applied to CAS to circumvent Stern’s tougher admissions standards and use that against you to deny you the transfer.

so when i apply into CAS do i have to state what i want to study? also is it possible to do like a minor with the NYU film school for like entertainment management or somthing? thank you.

Nope, you can leave your major as undecided.

About the minor, Tisch offers a Producing Minor and there is also a joint Tisch-Stern-Steinhardt minor in Business of Entertainment, Media, Technology.

for the joint minor, can you only do it only if you are in tisch, stern, or steinhardt? or can you do the minor if you are in CAS? thank you.
