<p>I assume you come from California. Middle-eastern will not help you as much as you might expect because it is classified as “white”. You can turn that into an excellent essay topic though. Your SAT scores are a little low which will hurt your chances. You should be able to get into at least one ivy league.</p>

<p>Unless your single mom can pay full freight for the UCs ( or other OOS publics), take them off your list. The UCs get most of their aid from the state of Calif, and that aid is for instate students only.</p>
