So I think you’re competitive for most schools, however the most competitive schools are so down to chance/essays/holistic admissions. You definitely need some safety schools (how much can your parents pay? Full tuition?).

And just a note of caution, from a novelist: don’t list your novel on your applications. It’s great you completed a manuscript–most teenagers don’t manage that–but I’m assuming you self-published and it’s just not worth putting on an application (or a resume). Unless you’re a self-pub wunderkind and become a bestseller, you’re just like any other person who banged out a book and self-published. Novels are only of note as an accomplishment if: you are traditionally published OR you become a bestseller as a self-pub (because it means you’re great at marketing). (as far as college admissions are concerned, my only slight exception would be if a person got an agent while still in high school–that’s worth noting in a supplement, but not as an EC. It’s not easy to get an agent.)
