Chance a junior

I am a junior who is recently interested at Dartmouth. Can you guys check out my stats and leave me some comments ?

Intended majors: economics, sociology, or history.

here are my stats:

9th grade GPA: 8.0/10 (it's considered A where I went to)

My GPA in sophomore year was 9.2/10

Junior year GPA: 4.0 (unweighted, my school does not have weighted GPA)
No ranking but I think I am in top 5%

Repeating junior year at a academically rigorous small private school, one of the best ones in the region.

Score this year so far: AP Cal BC: B, AP Physics C:Mechanics: B-, Spanish 1: A+, English 11: A, Biology: A, Choir: A, Wind Ensemble: A.

AP Cal AB score: 4 (Too bad)

Aim SAT score as 2150 (PSAT is 168, really bad). SAT II will be Math II: hope will be 700 at least and about 2 more, have not decided yet.

Extra curricular:
Soccer team of class: 6,7,8,9,10

Leadership: Head of School's Youth Union:Grade 10

everything looks ok except for that PSAT... pull the SATs up to 2000-2200 ASAP.

STUDY HARD FOR THE SATS, U CAN'T JUST WALK IN THERE AND EXPECT A 2150.

I had a 177 PSAT but studied so damn hard....5 months of torture LOL

I did actually take it and got 2100 in Jan. I copied and pasted the stats from my document so I have not updated it yet.

Dartmouth's median SAT score is 2200. Without a hook, I'd want to be above that. Look at stats of likely letter kids to see what Dartmouth wants.

Thanks

Any other suggestions ?

Looks pretty good to me. Try to hone down your ECs a bit and really sell what you care about. Keep it up!

I don't think your As in choir and wind ensemble make up for a B and B- in core academic courses when calculating a GPA. No history? Spanish 1?? Did you already take 4 years of another language? Why are you repeating junior year? Are all of those 11th grade honors at the old school or the new school? Maybe I'm just not understanding, but this situation would need some cogent explanation, to me.

Your SATs are not a plus, as far as I can see.

I took US History last year and got A in that class so I am gonna take another one next year.

I have to repeat junior year since I move to a new school and I am an international student so it's a long story. Basically because I need to fulfill graduation requirement.

All those honors are at my old school.

I have been taking English as my foreign language so when I come here I have to take another foreign language which is Spanish.

I will try to pull those B and B- up. What if I end the year with something like A- and B+ ?

Is my situation different now as I have cleared some confusions here ??

The college counselor at your school should have scattergrams showing what it takes to get in from your school or should be able to give you a good read. It would seem to be a major reach however.

Are you going to have to take the TOEFL? You ought to look into it.

If I were you, I would concentrate on using formally correct English even on a board such as this one. Although your English is good, you clearly need the practice. It will help you in your applications and in your school work. In your posts you have dropped articles and used incorrect verb tenses. These and other mistakes get in the way of clear communication and contribute to the confusion.

Yeah. I will take TOEFL for sure.

Yeah, I understand that my English is not that great. I am trying to fix it. Thanks for your comment.

Hard to say, but if pressed, I'd say your chances are not good. There is too much variability in your record.
