Nothing too spectacular
but there is stuff I havent mentioned
Oh well, Ill hope for the best!

What is your unweighted GPA?

Also, your SAT scores aren't terrible. Not even in the slightest.

From what I have seen so far, you have average to above average chances. Apply, and hope for the best.

Good luck!

Not 100% certain about unweighted...but def. above a 4...

Meh, thery're not awful, but not quite competitive enough. Plus, I just retook yesterday and feel confident that they broke 1500.

Thanks Dartmoose

Unweighted is out of 4.0 (and therefore can't be above 4). If you want an accurate chancing, we would need to find out what that is.

I would change your chances to just average if you had below a 3.9 UW GPA.

haha theres no way i have below a 3.9.... are you sure tho? because my grading scale is...

A+: 4.3
A: 4.0
B+: 3.3
Etc.

So i think that i could have above a 4 unweighted without AP classes...

I'm in NoVA by the way. and our grading scale is changing next year (to a ten point where an A: 90-100...B:80-89 etc. however this is NOT retroactive) and the AP classes are going from a +0.7 weight to a +1.0 weight retroactivetly which is good because I'm taking 8-9 of them total. theres also talk of weighting all of the courses I have taken at the Academy of science retroactively which would bring my GPA pretty dang high.

Dartmouth will recalculate your GPA so that there is no weighting, and an A+ is still a 4.0.

A+/A= 4.0, A-=3.66, B+=3.33, B=3.00

The fact that your school is changing its weighting system will only effect your class rank, as all colleges will recalculate your GPA to the same standard as everyone else. Imagine if my school gave a 6.0 for an A in an AP, and a 4.0 for an A in a regular course. It wouldn't be fair if I had an advantage over you in admissions because my school calculates it differently.

Oooh ok thanks Dartmoose. then i would have a 4.0 UW or something uber close to it for UW. but, if dartmouth looks at UW, then whats the true incentive for taking APs? knowing that you're that much smarter now?

collegehopeful, are you at TJ?

If you are in the top 5% at TJ, I think you probably have a reasonable chance anywhere. I also think that your athletic activity would appeal to D, even if you aren't recruitable. Ultimate is big there. Your research sounds great, definitely go to Gov's School if your get in. You sound like a D kind of kid to me.

The incentive for taking APs is to be in the most challenging and interesting classes at your HS with the most motivated kids. That is the kind of student that all of the most selective schools are looking for--not kids that want AP credits to get out of taking courses.

BTW, if possible, you might want to split your SAT IIs between the May and June dates. People say that taking 3 at once is VERY tiring and you aren't as likely to do well on the last one.

Consolation: No I am not at Thomas Jefferson; i'm pretty familiar with the school tho.
I attend the Loudoun Academy of Science. its relatively new but its gaining prestige uberfast.

Yeah, i'm big on sports but Im not quite DI, II, III material. ULTIMATE IS MY LIFE!!

I agree on the topic of takin APs

I plan to take Math II and Chem in May and Biology in June...amidst some AP tests and the ACT

I'm glad i sound like a D kind of kid.
