Nothing too spectacular…but there is stuff I haven’t mentioned…Oh well, I’ll hope for the best!

any advice/insight would be greatly appreciated

You just better hope next year is better than this year.

No stats are safe from rejection at MIT.

I saw five people with perfect SAT or ACT scores on here rejected, and only two accepted.

just look at the stats for people who got rejected/accepted this year. its only gonna get harder. you need much more than grades and a bunch of ECs. your essay has to be unique and your interests have to be unique

where would i see such stats for 2009?

Thanks feral. i have several topics/hook points in mind.

based upon this year, i think that any predictions are quite pointless. I used other sites that gave me a 23% chance of getting in and i was accepted and i bet people with 80% chances got rejected....MIT is clearly too hard to try and foresee....that being said I think you have just as good of a shot as anyone (i have the same sat and got accepted so it is not terrible)

you are obviously well rounded and i think this is a very important issue for mit (at least it was for my application). I would say to continue the good work and make sure you interview (this greatly increases your chances). Make sure to have fun and enjoy senior year though too.

This year had lowest rate of admission ever. Admissions works in mysterious ways though and 1460 is not a terrible SAT score man. You probably have a decent shot, but there's no science to it.

Your SAT/Academics are already good enough if you just keep it up. I had a 1380 SAT score (it bumped up to a 1420 after the app deadline... I THINK they saw the improvement but not sure) and I am in. I recommend that you don't spend your time worrying about that so much as foster really cool and unique interests/experiences that make you a good fit for the school. To get in (at least this is how it was for me), you have to write great essays that sum up your personal experiences and give a mature reflection on your life so far. Most importantly, do NOT put all your eggs in this basket, after all, 90% of the people who do that end up devastated. Showing motivation, uniqueness, that you overcame some kind of adversity, and trying to give the impression (but do not outright say it!) that you will be successful and accomplished in the future will give you the best shot at getting in. Good luck.

Your SAT is fine. They like to see everything as in the 700s range. Once they figure out if you're smart, they look at other more interesting things. Lots of smart people apply to MIT. Lots of perfect scores are rejected and people with 1400s/1600 get in. There's more to life than the SAT :D
