Interests:
- Art: painting/drawing/sculpture/digital/photograhpy: i have done almost every type of art making there is, but i specialize in drawing and painting. I have been doing so basically since i was born (no joke!) and have been commissioned several times to make paintings for people
- Piano: been playing the piano since i was 4. Followed the Royal Conservatory of Music curriculum, which was just introduced in NYC this year, so im one of the few kids in the city doing it. I am in grade 9, which means i will be able to teach next year! I've gotten tons of awards/certificates from playing in concerts.
- Medicine: I have been volunteering for 4 hours every Sunday at 2 prominent hospitals in NYC for 2 years now
- Tutoring: have been tutoring a 10th grader at my school in math

SAT 2:
- French language: 760
- French Lit: 780
- going to take Bio, Math 2
AP: I just took the French language and literature (last year!) and Biology

Random: I have lived in Canada for 10 years, London for 3 years, Japan for 2 years and New York City for 2 years. I have great recs, one from my french teacher who told me she "got someone into Yale"...and I love English and writing and it is my favorite subject, so essays shouldn't be a problem.

Thinking of:
- brown (top choice!!!), amherst, johns hopkins, princeton (?), williams, georgetown, U penn

good EC’s, nice spike in French

You have a very unique set of extracurriculars
It would help if you could show GPA and class rank
SAT is good, try to get 2200+

If your GPA and class rank are both fine (ideally above 3.9 and in top 10 of class, val or sal would be nice)

Then:

Brown-possibly, hard to say because ivies are crapshoot
Amherst-yes you are in, good candidate for top LAC
Johns Hopkins-match, you most likely are in
Princeton-low reach, less chance then brown because elite
Williams-yes you are in
Gerogetown-probably in
U penn-depends on your class rank, Penn accepts nearly half of all vals/sals, but you have a decent chance

Overall, definitely into most of the ones you listed except Penn, Brown, and Princeton
I am pretty sure you will get into one of those three though

Thanks! My school doesnt do class ranks/GPA but if i had to guess I’d say im in the top…15? maybe top 10 in my class out of 130.

Anyone else?

bump! anyone else?

I had a very similar application. 2170 SATs, 790 Math 2, 780 Chem, 740 Physics, loads of piano and music, sports (tennis and crew), good grades, productive activities over the summer, community service, etc.

And I got into Brown Class of 2013.

So I think you have a good shot at Brown, UPenn, and Johns Hopkins. As for the others, I’m not sure. A slim chance for Princeton, though, because it’s … well … Princeton. I strongly suggest that you find backup schools that you like, because admissions are getting more unpredicable each year.

I wish you the best of luck (^_^)!!!

thanks! bump!!!
