help me out!

help please!

double bump

If you boost your GPA you could apply to much better schools then the ones you listed.

well i only have like a semester left: the highest i could get my GPA would be like maybe 3.25 or something…
I also have a nice upward trend going though. I slacked off my freshman year and got a 2.8. since then I’ve only gone up.

psu and pitt should be able to get in. maybe not main campus for both though

ugh. i really am trying for main campus for everything.

Stop with thinking your HS is well known academically… it isn’t… Unless you go to Andover or Exeter, no admissions person will care where you went to school!

my school is top 10 in NJ many students get into the schools I am planning on applying to yearly from my school. I would imagine they would be familiar with the school.

bump to the top

bump up please help

Well, being a Pennsylvania resident from a school that actively feeds into PSU-Main, I am pretty familiar with their average SAT and GPA. Their Head of Admissions came to our school and handed out charts for main campus stats. Basically, the lower half of students accepted into main are around 1200 SAT (out of 1600) and about 3.7 weighted GPA. I’m not really sure how your school weights so it would be difficult for me to give you a definite answer. But, if your GPA is weighted anything like ours I really don’t think you have a great shot at main. >_< Even worse is GPA and SAT are essentially the most important to Penn State, all the extra curriculars in the world can’t help you if your GPA is too low.

What is your expected major? You might really like some of the PSU satellites.

Here is my info: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/694907-chance-me-top-universities-state-lacs.html</a>
PSU-Main and Pitt-Main are my safetys… So you can have something to compare to.

take a look here though: this is my school’s College Admissions Profile for last year;scroll down to Penn State UP and check out the GPAs that got in. They are considerably lower than usual at my school , so it seems.
My major is currently undecided, but I would likely be interested in Communications (film and TV) or Business (Marketing or Management)

http://www.northernhighlands.org/71244582581817/lib/71244582581817/CAP_2008_combined.pdf</a></p>

Yeah a GPA around 3.1 like you have is probably similar to a 3.7 where I go. That’s why I said I couldn’t be completely sure about it. Why can’t every school just do GPA the same?! >_< Annoying… But yeah I wouldn’t give up hope! And if you are going into Communications then I would definitely go with Boston U or Syracuse if you can get in. As for business, Penn State and Pitt are both great. I’d argue that Penn State is better but it really depends on which major specifically. Good luck with your apps. I wish I could be a better help for you.

yeah, sorry i forgot to originally post the link! haha.

Yeah, business and Communications are two definete favorites of mine. Also, private or public, neither is a problem since my parents can afford whereever I do decide to go.
I personally have been a sports fan forever and would prefer a school with a lot of spirit towards football or basketball, although obviously this is not the top priority.

bump to the top

Yeah I would have to agree that your GPA is a little on the low side, however you have a relatively good shot at those schools you applied to. Try some big 10 schools if you love sports and such!

Chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/695607-wrong-me-fall-love-these-schools-chance-me-tell.html</a></p>

Thanks man. yeah I’d like all the big 10 schools except for Iowa, MSU, illinois, but I don’t think I’d have a shot at Michigan or Wisconsin, and especially not northwestern.
